AR Lowers Flying Off the Shelves?

Post by Skiprr »

No build planned, but decided it would be a good time to put a new complete (or assembled but without stock; not necessarily machined billet, forged okay) lower in the safe. Evidently, I'm not the only one who thought that.

Wondering if anyone else is shopping and what you're seeing out there.

For example, I glanced at Palmetto State Armory before breakfast and, while I was thinking of maybe something a grade up, they did have a few complete lowers in stock. Cleared some time now after lunch to do some comparison shopping, and PSA is now sold out of assembled lowers. Oh, and the assembled lower prices seem to have bumped by about 7%-9% since the beginning of the year. As with others, they do still have a modest selection of stripped lowers available, however.

Spike's Tactical is on my list, but they never really indicate "sold out" because they may manufacture based on orders placed. They are, though, now indicating they have about an eight-week wait.

Aero Precision is also on my list and, ta dah!, no complete lowers in stock, including .308 (I'm just looking for a 5.56). They have five stripped lowers in stock out of 15 offerings.

Bravo Company has no assembled rifle lowers, but does have three pistol lowers. Doesn't help me, though. And it looks like Anderson has a few--as in only a couple of configurations with four left of this one, and three left of that one--still available to ship. Don't really want to spend $623 on an Anderson lower, though, even with a Timney trigger.

Yankee Hill and CMMG sell through dealers only, so I can't tell the status there.

Ive been keeping an on a few things myself.. seems like things are starting to pick up. I had been waiting on a refund from Smith & Wesson for a Performance Center 1911, I had to email them to step on it..the dollar is losing value in firearms industry.

I'll vouch for runner runner's lowers any day. I completed my first build using their "come and take it" billet lower. It is a little pricey compared to other stripped lowers but it is a great quality item, and the guys up there have taken care of me multiple times when they absolutely did not have to.

I was waiting on my paycheck to hit today and I have been shopping for lowers this week trying to find a deal. Well the aero lower I wanted is gone, as mentioned above. I ordered an anderson lower today, and I'm going to pick up a spikes lower locally probably tomorrow.

I'm in a class right now that is economics heavy, and it is almost comical watching the laws of economics go to work right now.

It just happened that I ordered a couple of stripped/bare lower receivers on Friday, just before the recent events in Orlando. I'm hoping to be at the front of the queue. I just figured that Clinton's chances of winning seem to be improving every time Trump opens his mouth, and, as my father used to say, I should "Get while the gettin's good!" I suspect the Orlando thing has accelerated the panic buying.

I called my local Cabela's this afternoon. They're holding a couple of pounds of powder for me to pick up tomorrow.

I decided to get in the game and own an AR. I ordered a spikes tactical stripped lower for 80 yesterday. It was hard to find the Jolly Roger logoed one in stock but I found it.

Ordered the rest of the lower parts today. Still trying to figure out the whole upper.

Dang it! This thread reminded me that I had a spare carbine upper hanging around and before I knew it I found myself with an order confirmation for a forged lower and LPK. How does this continue to happen? :headscratch

Friday evening, I was looking at complete lowers at Palmetto. Found one I wanted but it was late and i didn't order it. Saturday morning when i looked, out of stock. Checked again Saturday evening and they had a few back in stock. I didn't wait this time. Ordered while the ordering was good.

Was at Quantico Tactical in Killeen on Friday. They had been having a sale on Anderson stripped lowers; $55 for 1, $49 each for 2, or $47 each for 3. Price is now back up to $59 for 1. Clerk told me they had sold over 100 lowers since Monday just at that one store.
