M203??

Post by Soap »

Are their launchers I can attach to a 22 replica rifle? Will they launch real smoke grenades? I was wanting one more for just looks, not actual use. I know their are some airsoft ones but I'm not sure what they do. Any advice would help. :cheers2:

You want a 37mm flare launcher. 37mm launchers are not firearms, and can* only be used to launch flares and smoke rounds. You can buy them for a couple hundred bucks. An M203 is a 40mm grenade launcher, and is an NFA-regulated destructive device. You can use it to shoot any type of round, from smoke and flares, to chalk practice rounds, to big "shotgun" rounds, to exploding grenades**. They're a lot more expensive, around $2000.

* You may register a 37mm launcher as a destructive device, but then you'd need to load your own 37mm ammo, because no one sells 37mm ammo that's something other than smoke or flares.
** Technically you could shoot them, but such grenades are destructive devices in and of themselves, they require a federal explosives license and approved explosives magazine to possess, and no one will sell them to you anyways.

I had an LMT 40mm launcher awhile back and sold it because shooting chalk rounds was boring for the amount of money it cost to shoot them. Also, you need your own land to shoot them on because public ranges won't let you.

That's just wrong! It's discrimination! I could just see me showing up to ASC in Houston where they yell at you over the speakers if you shoot more than 1 round every 2 to 3 seconds.

the airsoft ones fire gas propelled bb's from a gas charged cartridge. You fill the cartridge with bbs, then charge the gas port, load the cartridge like any other M203. Nothing fantastic, might be cool for the first ten shots, till your lawn is covered with hundreds of plastic bbs.

Neat. I will probably just get an airsoft one. It's just for looks and goofing with buds.
