Smith&Wesson 1911 Stainless Steel - Good Price?

I saw one yesterday used for $589. It had some holster wear but other than that seemed tight with a very smooth and light trigger. Barrel looked spotless also. All the safety mechanisms seemed to be working as they should. I been wanting a 1911 style pistol but I'm not sure yet about what is a good deal and what isn't. Does this sound like a fair price to you guys? It was the model with synthetic grips and Novak lo-mount sights. Thanks for any input.

One more thing, it only comes with one mag.

I've not heard of any reliability problems with S&W's 1911 variant. The manufacturer that had problems was Kimber (using a proprietary extractor), and they have since switched back to the standard internal extractor.

S&W's external extractor, at least from my cursory glance-overs, bears a strong resemblance to a Browning High Power's extractor. I would trust it more than Kimber's, and probably about as much as a standard internal extractor (anyone who's had "extractor tuning" issues knows what I'm talking about).

As for the price, looking over Gunbroker, it seems good. Just inspect the gun thoroughly, looking for "unusual" wear first, as it's obviously used.

Thanks guys. Since seeing it I've read every review I could find and they are mostly positive. One even thought the outside extractor was a plus and an improvement over the internal. The looks of the extractor don't bother me any. So if they still have it next weekend, I may have myself my first 1911.
