Rangefinder

Does anyone have a mid-price rangefinder they'd recommend?

I have a top-of-the-line Leupold laser model and have a hard time with it. My eyes make it difficult enough to hold on target. But even when the object is large and motionless I cannot get a definitive measurement if it is unreflective and a medium to dark color, like trees, soil, rocks. Anything dull brown that moves faster than a cow is impossible.

I need a small separate unit, not a scope/rangefinder, for miscellaneous use on a ranch in addition to shooting use. I'd rather not make another big investment and be disappointed, but I would like to have one with angle compensation. Am I expecting too much?

I bought the Vortex specifically for the lifetime warranty but the price is reasonable too.

Try the one from Sig. It is $500.00, very accurate and has been vetted by a couple of former special forces snipers that I know. I have one and really like it.

On the fixed range I use a tripod, in the field a shoulder (rifle type) stock device. Problem solved, at least for me.

Thanks for the replies! I'd hoped to keep the price down to $300 or less. But maybe that is too optimistic.

I bought a Nikon. Works very well for me. Been a while sense I bought it, don't remember the price.

Thanks friends. I wasn't even aware that Nikon and Sig make rangefinders. They look great. I was somewhat familiar with the Vortex and have a high opinion of their products from personal experience. But I'm thinking I will exercise some self control this one time and stay within my planned budget with the Burris Beiruty recommends.
