One thing to be counted on is that the anti-gun folks will employ every tactic in the Collectivist playbook to push toward their goals. Changing terminology is but one of these tactics that is used quite often -- usually to demonize inanimate objects, but sometimes to simply mislead.

It's a game of words. Everyone plays it.
I once litigated a case against trustees of some Teamsters' Union pension funds. In their pleadings and briefs, they referred to themselves as "Trustees." In my pleadings and briefs, I referred to them as "Teamsters." I was delighted to know I had gotten to them when they asked the judge to make me call them "Trustees." He didn't.
Don't give the enemy the pleasure of knowing he's getting to you.
