10/22 Saturday project
Hey guys I decided to paint my 10/22 stock because the factory camo was ugly. What do y'all think??

Looks nice! Although, it'd be nicer if you had rotated the picture 90deg clockwise

Looks good! I've been looking at the 10/22 breakdown in kryptek but they also make a solid tan version that I could do my own camo pattern with.

Thanks guys! Yeah it was easy I just sanded it down and then I used some high heat great primer did two coats then the my tan color then green and black. I used some file folders and cut out patters so I could get it to look that way. I have some new sights coming for it so that will be the next upgrade

I'm a big fan of 22lr for all around versatility, been looking at the take down as a GHB gun, I have an old marlin model 60 I have had since my teens. I don't know if you have priced 10/22 lately, but the price has dropped significantly in the past few months. I really like the 10/22 platform for it's ability to be adapted with almost as many accessories as the AR.

Re: 10/22 Saturday project
I saw some 10/22's today for 319 not bad. I'm sure they are cheaper at gun shows. But I like the 10/22 for its versatility like an Ar. I think there are hair as many accessories. It's a great gun. The only thing I knock is the stock sights. But I am replacing them mondaybwhen they come in the mail so no big deal there

Nice paint job. What sights are you putting on?

Gonna put on the Williams peep sight with the fiber optic front. The rear screws into the scope mount holes so I will have a longer sight radius. The only thing I have read about those sights is to make sure you loctite the set screws for windage and elevation after you sight them in because they will come loose if you don't.

Yes, they will.cmgee67 wrote:Gonna put on the Williams peep sight with the fiber optic front. The rear screws into the scope mount holes so I will have a longer sight radius. I have Williams Ace in the Hole sights on my 10/22 takedown. That allows me to use my scope, or not, whichever is appropriate for the task at hand.

Re: 10/22 Saturday project
I'm going loctite the screw in aperture as well because I don't like the ghost ring effect. I'm a traditional peep sight guy on 22's. My Ar is a different story. She's got a vortex sparc 2 but I have irons as well that I can still use because the co witness
Re: 10/22 Saturday project
Ah, great sights except I should warn you to be very, very careful with the front sight. The little rings that hold the fiber on are on unbelievably fragile. I've broken two on the same 10/22! Don't even worry about the fiber breaking like you would w/ pistols.cmgee67 wrote:Gonna put on the Williams peep sight with the fiber optic front. If I had it to do over again, as I haven't discovered a better front sight solution, I would use dense shipping foam with a cutout to fit over the sight and then a band to fasten it to the barrel, for use when not shooting. I don't abuse my equipment. The breakage occurred in the normal handling of the firearm.
I can't quite pull the trigger on a third replacement.
FYI: The part number for just the fiber front sight is, 60238.

I like it, very ATACS-ish. Good brush color. Now about that stainless steel...lol.
