OK, I think I've finally come to my senses.
Ammo prices have gotten to the point that I have to seriously consider reloading again. The last time I researched it, reloading 9mm was not cost effective considering that I could buy Blazer aluminum for $4.00 a box at Academy. Now it's $7.00 a box and going up again. Add tax and that makes it about $0.15 per round over the counter according to my old school arithmetic.
What is a realistic cost per 9mm round that I can expect at current component prices if I roll my own?
I'm not factoring in the cost of a press and other hardware pieces at this point. Only the cost per round for bullets, primers and powder, using range brass if I can scrounge some.

True, the big eye opener for me, and 45acp, was the selection of bullets is much larger than one might think if you're only been looking in the local shops. Hit a web vendor, like say midwayusa, and search around. There are many options, both in type, quantity and packaging.george wrote:Everything can be purchased in bulk for cheaper.
Example 50 count box of 300gr .429 JHP in the nice plastic box, 25.00
100 count box 0f 300gr .429 JHP in a paper box 22.50
Corbon factory ammo with a 300gr JHP 35.00 for a box of 20.00
After a short look around you'll find there are supplies out there at fairly low cost. It's just the local stores are more interested in the rifle re-loaders, as they go for accuracy (spelled expensive) , unlike us handgun people who want volume.
