I'm not sure every M&P 15-22 with a flash hider is threaded. Many I see in the catalogue ie The Sports, don't list threaded barrels even with flash suppressors. Make sure the suppressor has flats on them for a wrench.

I'll admit to having been wrong once in my life (twice if you ask my wife... ) so I won't say there aren't some funky compliant versions out there with integrated flash hiders that could be pinned. Outside of that though I wouldn't worry about it. S&W doesn't list any thread patterns on any of the 15-22 guns except for those with the thread protector on them for whatever reason, but rest assured the base model and Magpul MOE versions now being producted at threaded.

If all goes well today, I'll be ordering one of these babies.

I'm now hesitating on the MOE version as I have a MOE version of a Colt LE 6920 that I ultimately replaced the hand guard (for a keymod) and the stock (for one with a better cheek weld). Those two items are the most important furniture to me. Yes, the pistol grip may be MOE, but pistol grips to me are pistol grips with little difference enough to add up to much. Of course, as usual I could be wrong...maybe being use to the pistol grips that come with my AR's, I don't know what I'm missing...maybe.

That being the case, I would say no reason to buck up the $ for the MOE then. The first model MOEs also got you a molded in QD attachment point. Now that the "Sport" model is out it appears (from pictures) that this has been deleted in favor of the SL stock with integrated QD socket. The base model Sport also appears to come with Magpul flip up sights, which was the other difference in the older models.

I'm now the proud owner of a new, M&P 15-22 sport rifle. I was amazed at how light it is and find the trigger (dry firing) not bad at all. I thought I'd have to replace it with at least an ALG if not a Geissele.

I bought if from Cabelas for $379.99 or $411.00 with tax. Minus 2% back with their credit card program, which amounts to $7.60 back or ultimately a grand total cost of $403.40. Not bad.

I checked out Grabagun and yes, they had the best price, but by the time you go thru the effort of ordering, wait time and extra expense (estimate $20.00 FFl fee) I would only be $5.40 ahead of the game. For the ease of purchase and to have it now, it was worth the very few extra dollars.

Now to Barbie Doll it up a bit. Maybe...I'll wait and shoot with Magpul iron sights it comes with for a while, but I may buy a low cost red dot sight for it, plus an extra magazine and a gadget that makes loading faster and easier. As it is, I have 2 different kinds of "Lulas" to ease loading magazines and the magazine loader Glock provides. Perhaps, one of them will work. If not, the ones dedicated to the 15-22 magazines are fairly inexpensive at $13.00 or so.
