Houston area gunsmith recommendations?

Post by Soccerdad1995 »

I need a recommendation for a good gunsmith in the Houston area who can do some customizations on a 1911 (bobtail the frame, install extended safety, smooth out and lighten the trigger, install new sights, possibly a few other things).

I also want to have some competition sites installed on a Glock 34. I would do that one myself but I lack the tools.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Ed Vanden Berg with Vanden Berg Custom. 281-482-3180. Ed has been building, customizing and repairing my 1911s for more years than I'll admit. He's the only pistolsmith I'll use. If you are in a hurry, find someone else. When I take my guns to Ed, I just act like they were stolen and someday will be recovered.

Ed doesn't work on Glocks.

Thanks. I had found Ed's name from some other research as well. Fortunately, I am not in a hurry, as I have other guns for EDC. I will give Ed a call.

I want to get an ideal (for me) carry gun starting with either my CZ 1911 or my Magnum Research DE 1911 G.

That's one of the beautiful things about Glocks, you don't have to be a gunsmith or armorer to work on them. Any old schlub like me can do it with a punch tool and googletube!
