Liberty University [VA] active shooter response video - Run Hide Fight Shoot
This is the first active shooter video I've seen that has taken into account legal concealed carry, and they do it very well.

Keep calm and carry.

I think that girl place a M&P Shield in her drawer. Great video, thanks for sharing!

Imagine that, your safety and that of those around you is your responsibiliy. That's a university that gets it.
Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.

Good video. Could have been better if when the gunman walked in the building and pulled out his pistol 5 concealed carry holders pulled theirs and resolved the issue, instead of fleeing.

Excellent video. I would have liked it if they stated the obvious - holster/put away your weapon as soon as the threat is eliminated. It might avoid the handcuffs - or at least included it first. But I know they are trying to keep it short and memorable.

The only problem I saw with that video is that the woman put that Shield in the drawer without anything protecting or covering the trigger. It was just loose in there with everything else.

I attended one of these classes and even though I do not work in an office environment, I learned to buy or have your employer buy you a #5-20 fire extinguisher and set it in your cubical. No one will realize it is your SD weapon for an active shooter. The FE is second only to a gun and has a range of about 20' to delay/disable the shooter.
This is actually one of the best videos that I have seen on an active shooter! And I will present to my church. One of the things that stands out the most is the mention of CHL/LTC or what ever the states refer to it as. In most cases these universities are GFZ which does nothing more than create a target rich environment. This one uses logic and common sense to the problem. I have not heard of any ND/AD happening here.
Someone did point out the missing trigger guard already. That may have been an 'Israeli carry' instance which is almost as bad, but like above better than a pencil or football helmet.

That's an interesting idea. A fire extinguisher is a poor second to a firearm, but it does give you some stand-off and distraction capability, maybe enough to disorient him long enough to dogpile him and stick a pencil through his eye.JerryK wrote:I attended one of these classes and even though I do not work in an office environment, I learned to buy or have your employer buy you a #5-20 fire extinguisher and set it in your cubical. As for the pistol in the drawer - yeah I'd feel better if it had a cover on the trigger, but I would not poo-poo leaving it without one in the chamber if it is going to be locked in a drawer or cabinet and not on one's person. Having it locked away means a chance of being separated from the pistol when something else bad happens, like a building fire. In that case you've just left a booby-trap behind if there's a round in the chamber. I would not leave any weapon with one in the chamber unless I had it holstered on my body or right at hand. Locked in a drawer is not what I would call right at hand.

The part in italics is all that's needed. Off-body carry is dumb. Off-body carry in a locked, non-mobile container is even more so.C-dub wrote:The only problem I saw with that video is that the woman put that Shield in the drawer without anything protecting or covering the trigger.
