Sigh.....There are states and cities here in the US that have more restrictive laws then Canada..
Rangers are a pretty neat group ( not to be confused with park like rangers), mostly native Inuit in the far north. Until recently they used old Mk 4 no.1 en fields in .303
Can you say that about handguns? My wife attended a Statistical software seminar where she sat at a table with two RCM members. They were appalled that she owned a handgun and new how to use it. I also have a few Canadian friends......they would disagree with your premise.
Well, cops are like that the world over, used to shoot a lot of IPSC before I moved to the states
There are no issues owning handguns, yes you do have to take a short course to get a purchase card, not unlike some places here. Yes you can't carry up there , like some places here......at least the law is uniform and you don't have to worry going from provide to province and make a mistake, unlike state to state when you get stuck changing planes in NJ, or drive through NYC
As time I was up north stopped by the well stocked gun store, with lots of surplus military weapons that are federally banned here & was surprised to see SKY'S at the Canadian tire store
