I noticed that there must have been a mistake or i just did something wrong but the address on my CHL does NOT match the address on my TDL, so a few people suggested i get that changed. i went online to the dps website and paid the $25 and changed my address there..

so now i dont know whats next, will they mail me a new CHL? i printed out my receipt and am keeping it with my CHL just in case. lol.

Yes, you will get a new CHL in the mail.

I am afraid I don't understand the part about 'not wait'.

my apologies, i was just wondering how long would it take for them to mail me a new CHL if i submitted my address change today. the "not wait" meant i guess i shouldnt wait for it and just let it come in when it comes in.

thanks for your help.

I think mine took a couple of weeks........but I am not sure. It was definately quicker than a renewal. ;)

Maybe what they also meant by "not wait" might have implied that they were wondering if they could "ride" with what they have till the new one with the correct address shows up, or not carry till the revised CHL comes in...

Seems to me that they are in the computer as actively licenced...If the address is incorrect, thats an administrative fix thats not the CHL'ers fault, but that the CHL'er has notified the Austin office of the need for "correction", and that they've paid yet more money to get it corrected...

A call to Austin for clarification on what you as a CHL holder can do in the mean time between licence fixes would be in order...They are pretty good at fielding those questions...

They will expect you to send the old license back to them once the new one is in hand.

I filed for a new drivers license and a new gun permit on the same day. I remember one came in about 10 days and the other took over three weeks. I can't remember which is which, just remember when the first came I kept watching the mail everyday for the other.

I didnt catch the part about returning my old one to them and didn't. It has since expired and they didn't say anything at renewal time.

As clarified in a thread elsewhere a week or three ago, they don't want you having 2 licenses with the same expiration date.
