The Sig bug has bitten me!

Picked up my P226 today as many of you know and I went and put about 150 rounds through her with of course ZERO malfunctions! I have never shot that well with a pistol in my entire life. It is so accurate and so easy to shoot it's unreal. I was shooting 10x10 plates at 50 yards and it was eaaaasy. Up close 7 yards and in I thought I was missing until I realized I'm putting them all in the same hole! I have been holding out on myself! This will be a wonderful gun to hand down one of these days.

Welcome to the club. I do have to warn you, there is no cure for the Sig bug. It can be contagious to other shooting enthusiasts. It may be terminal to anyone who threatens you with death or serious bodily injury if you are carrying said Sig on you. Stay safe!

I might have bought a P226 years ago after shooting olafpfj's once. It's a very pleasant gun to shoot. But the problem for me — and this is true of almost all of the non-1911 pattern Sig pistols — is that they have essentially written off the left-handed market. I don't care so much about slide-stops or take-down levers as much as I do safety/decocker levers. My Glocks get away with it by virtue of the trigger and internal safety mechanisms, rendering them essentially ambidextrous. My Springfields get away with it by virtue of trigger, internal, and grip-safeties, rendering them essentially ambidextrous. My M&P45 has trigger, internal, and bilateral thumb-safeties, rendering it essentially ambidextrous. The Springfields have ambidextrous mag releases. The Glocks' and M&P's mag releases are reversible for left-handlers. Even so, I've shot right-hand-only mag release guns for so many years now that I'm used to using my left index finger to drop the mag; so the mag release is not as important to me. But if I am going to carry any gun that has an external frame or slide mounted safety or decocker lever, it HAS to be left-hand friendly, or it's useless to me.

I'd love to own a P226, but I can't justify the fairly expensive price one if I'm not going to carry it.

I have owned just about every sig. I love to shoot them and carry them. They're also good pieces to trade with. I'm kicking myself for trading my West German P6 but it was beat to hell and back. So maybe, I will find a better one. I am in love with the W.G. P228s. My sig addiction has morphed into collecting them. I have never owned a P226, however, I don't know why I went backwards lol.

on a budget? Superchief had a P239 posted for sale at an excellent price. I carry the Sig P239, it's a compact, single stack version of the P226 basically. First time I shot it, I didn't know how much difference a nice gun could make on my accuracy. Honestly, I would buy a second one from Superchief, but I'm in the same boat as you. SWMBO would not be impressed. Even if I told her that it was so that she could have one too, and I promised to buy her some pink grips...

Yeah we have a budget, but hers, and mine, are at different places, as far as what we spend money for. I have offered to buy her whatever gun she wants also, but, that's not a high priority on her "list"
I'm sure I will get something before long, not sure if it will be a Sig, but I am definitely intrigued. Shhhh! don't say anything out loud though.

Like some of you, I have owned and traded several semi-auto pistols in my life, including an early Sig 220, Sig 226, Sig 228, Sig 229, and Sig 239, one of my favorites. A few short months ago, I bought one of the most underrated and inexpensive Sigs ever, and it's my dream gun: Sig P250 Compact, a double-action-only 9mm. It is the first double-column Sig I've owned that actually fits my hand and fingers perfectly. It has the smoothest DA trigger I've ever felt on a semi-auto handgun, and I carry it in the perfect holster, the Vedder Light Tuck IWB kydex holster. This one is a keeper, and my goal is to pick up and handle every Sig I see in a gun shop. Yes, I want more of these Sig guns!
