Waiting for my youngest daughter's first baby at Texas Children's and logged onto the hospital connection. Txchl is blocked for 'weapons'. I wonder if porn sights are blocked. Not gonna try that though. I'll just have to use my phone to get to Txchl while her labor progresses. This is grand child number 7 for us and the second boy. "Hunter" has a cousin Jaxson who is 3-1/2. I have bough both their first .22 rifles and they're in the safe keeping of their Dads. They are close enough in age to be buddies.

I had the same problem when my daughter gave birth a few months ago at JPS in Ft. Worth. Not sure what their reasoning is, but I worked a place a few years ago, that blocked anything deemed "weapons" I had to get them to release the restriction, because some vendors that sold tools also sold knives which was blocked. I told them that I could just drive to the warehouses on their dime, and charge mileage, but they relented.

Congrats on the new grandson! I know you'll enjoy taking him shooting.

I used to use at home, a program like LogmeIn or RemoteAnywhere, then connect to my home computer from wherever, then on my home computer I could surf anywhere while seeing it on my remote/laptop/tablet/work computer.

Getting around blocks isn't that hard usually, Ask any teenager how they get around sites the schools block

Wait a minute....you're going around the property (computer system) owner's rights to control what's on their property. When you log onto the free wifi at the hospital, you probably click to say you'll follow their policies...that's your notice, just like a stamp sized circle slash Beretta is notice against carrying a concealed rifle. Now by going around the Web Blocking software against the wishes of the property owner, you are now guilty of trespass (class B)...technically Trespass to Chattel for being on their system "property" against their wishes....

Big organizations like TCH typically farm out the blocking of web sites to a service that takes care of the classification of web sites. It's a process I'm familiar with since I just retired from doing it for a big engineering firm in Houston. The service TCH is using has apparently classified this forum as a "Weapons" site, when it really ought to be classified as "Internet Forum". McAfee's blocking software has it correctly classed as "Internet Forums", so it's not McAfee they use there. If I knew the vendor that did the filtering for TCH, I could contact them and dispute the weapons classification. Was there any text included with the blocking message that indicated what service did the blocking? The vendor's name is often included somewhere on the blocked message.

I didn't see it printed in Klingon only English ...

Don't they have to come give Trespass notice and you refuse to leave (desist/disconnect from) their router before an arrest?
They'd have trouble tracing which phone connected to the anonymized/proxy which then connected to said website, then find where that person is in the buildings before a person leaves

These institutions subscribe to a service. They check off the boxes what the don't want to be kid friendly or family friendly, I doubt they even look at the lists to see what's being blocked. If you were an employee, you could complain and have it changed, otherwise you're probably out of luck.

My work subscribes to such a service. When I came in one Monday, I could no longer get to any of my gun web sites. I complained to my IT guy. Turns out they had done an upgrade over the weekend and the service installed the wrong package. They fixed it for me.

Now you're telling people to violate the law by trespassing on the computer system without following their "conditions of entry". It's like a dress code for computers...If the sign says tie required and you walk in tieless it's a class B, the sign was your notice.

Don't you know that a sticker with a crossed out silhouette of a Beretta, means that you can't use their WiFi while going to Texas CHL Forum. That's all the notice they need to have you arrested for a class B trespass on their system.
