Back up Mag help

Post by cmgee67 »

It has come to my realization that Inshould carry a back up mag or two if I can. To those of you who do, how and where and what method do you carry in? I carry a glock 19 so obviously glock mags is what I want to carry as backups. I have used the nylon mag carriers and also a double kydex owb and a couple single kydex iwb as well as a snag mag that goes in the pocket in a kydex holder with a pocket clip. My problem I run into is that I have not found a comfortable way to carry them. My gun on the other hand I hardly notice it's there. But I need some help

There is horizontal 1-mag carrier. You would not feel it. I used to carry double mag in Blackhawk Police Officer style mag pouches with cover and snaps

I carry mainly on my weak side in a double mag carrier. I use a horizontal mag holder as well as a pocket mag holder from Tucker Leaher.

With my G19, I always carry two standard 15 round backup magazines. My shoulder holster has a double carrier which carries the mags vertically upside down, such that they are pulled out in a downwards motion, carried on the offside.

As for "leather days" on my belt, I have a Desantis OWB double mag carrier. On my "kydx days", I have a Bladetech OWB double mag carrier. I almost never carry IWB, but when I do, it's a G43, arrived with one spare mag in an IWB single mag carrier.

I use a Dale Fricke (dalefrickeholsters.com) archangel 2 double mag carrier. Is vertical, tuckable, has snap loops, and is kydex. Works well for me around 7:30 to 8:00 depending on the pants I'm wearing. Also sells horizontal ones, and all of them come double or single. I like them because they don't take up much real estate on my belt. Plus I enjoy wearing kydex more than leather or the cloth/kydex mix type holsters or mag carriers.

I have carried two spare full size mags in a Fobus double paddle OWB for about 14 years now. First I had .40's for about 9-10 years and have since had .45's. It is comfortable enough for me.
