Long Guns in Vehicle - School Zones ??

Post by gamboolman »

I did try to search and had No Joy.....not sure if this is right forum?

Regarding School No Gun Zones: I am fine and clear on my CHL and carrying in the car.

The question is what about Long Guns? Rifles and/or shotguns in our vehicle as we drive by / thru a a School No Gun Zone?

I always focused on CHL and never thought about a Long Gun?

Thanks for help and advice - it will be most appreciated.

Federal crime unless it's unloaded and in a locked container. Lose your gun rights forever.

If I return home from the ranch at 11- midnight on a Saturday, and have my loaded AR in its unlocked pelican case in the back seat of my truck, and I drive within 1,000 feet of the new elementary school in my neighborhood... I am committing a federal felony for driving past a completely empty elementary school.

This is just one example of why I have developed a lax attitude about following mala prohibita laws.

Thank you for the prompt replies. :tiphat:

My goodness - I had no idea ! As I said, Ms. Gamboolgal and I had scope locked on our pistols for CHL vs school zones, and had not even thought about our long guns being a problem.

I will say that working the oil patch overseas and being gone for about 10 months per year for the last 20 years - I don't keep up with news and such..... Not a excuse I know....

Such a change from growing up in East Texas when I had my shotgun in my old truck's gun rack in the high school parking lot.
