The hearing protection Act topic got me thinking about what type of Suppressor might I get if it passes.

Then I came across these OSS Suppressors on youtube the other day - https://osssuppressors.com/
Here's a review on youtube talking about how it works, etc - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ8XilfKLi0
Anyone else looked at them, anyone own one ?

Over on the FN Forum, there is nothing but praise for the Silencerco Suppressors.

Re: OSS Suppressors
The OSS concept is a very cool one, and I'm always for user serviceability. But hoochie mamma are they proud of them! Outside of my price range.
I would warn people away from AAC. They DO work, and I like my 762-SDN-6, but boy howdy does their customer service suck. They are part of the Freedom Group now, and my experience with them has not been that great.
Also, don't discount building your own on a Form 1. It's not only rewarding, but you'll get something that works just as well as any commercially available one. But, just like building an AR, there's some sweat equity.
I currently have a Form 4 in process for a Rugged Obsidian 45 multicaliber and configurable pistol suppressor.
My next suppressor purchase will likely be a Griffin Optimus, which will let you suppress everything from a .22 to a .357 magnum in pistols, and everything from a .22 to a .308 in a long gun, with multiple configurations in between.

If the Hearing Protection Act passes, no need for a Form 1...The Annoyed Man wrote:

In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

Re: OSS Suppressors
Possibly, but we don't know what the final version once passed will look like. I'm not saying that this is what I want, but I can see it passing with some kind of restriction, such that a suppressor purchase/build would still require a NICS background check, or something like that. In such a case, a Form 1 might still be necessary in order to "register" the suppressor, but without the waiting period or the $200. The example of such a modification to a bill that comes to mind is FOPA - a great idea, but one which ALSO gave us the Hughes Amendment, which was a terrible idea.jason812 wrote:The Annoyed Man wrote:

So it is easy for me to see how democrats could try and derail passage unless they could attach a rider limiting suppressors and/or guns in some other way.
Let's pray it doesn't happen like that.
