Shooting Mat - Which One Do You Like?
My wife likes to shoot sitting and prone, so I suggested we get a shooting mat. She found she really likes shooting my S&W M&P 15-22 .22cal rifle.
So, which one/ones do you like?
Amazon has a very low cost mat, with reviews that say (mostly say...) it's excellent for a paltry $30.00.
It's a VISM by NcStar Roll Up Shooting Mat.
Thanks!

A roll up yoga mat works too... if you can get over the pink or purple color.

Midway has quite an assortment: http://www.midwayusa.com/s?targetLocati ... PerPage=48
I wanted one that would pack small (one less thing to carry), so I went with the Packable Shooting Mat

Well on the plus side, no one at the range is going to pick up your mat and walk away with it!jason812 wrote:A roll up yoga mat works too... if you can get over the pink or purple color.

The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

Pawpaw,
I neglected to add: Weight isn't an issue as we going to use it in the back yard. The bigger the better.
And man oh man, Midwest does have quite a selection.
Thanks!

Then get a well padded mat with pockets that will trap the bipod legs when you prone out and push forward.Abraham wrote:Pawpaw,

Dillon Precision:

Mrs. Chemist and I each had one at the hottest Appleseed shoot ever a couple years back.
Ours were the only ones that didn't try to roll themselves up in the heat and were comfortable to use.

That looks very nice. Quite a bit different than the normal foam pads.Chemist45 wrote:Dillon Precision:

There aren't that many reviews on this. Top rated with only two reviews???Abraham wrote:My wife likes to shoot sitting and prone, so I suggested we get a shooting mat. She found she really likes shooting my S&W M&P 15-22 .22cal rifle.

It seems like PVC would be sticky during a hot day.
If I were to buy one, I would probably go with the Dillon Precision.

It looks comfortable enough to take a nap after a long day at the range.

I don't see, on the Dillon, anything that will trap the bipod legs? Also, if wearing short sleeves, that "skid resistant" area might just take the skin right off her elbows...WildBill wrote:There aren't that many reviews on this. Re: Shooting Mat - Which One Do You Like?
WildBill,
Will do.
It was ordered today.
Someone mentioned this particular mat might get hot in the summer.
Since "She Who Must" will be using it (I doubt I will, but rarely, as prone/sitting/kneeling shooting situated on the ground isn't something I'm terribly interested in doing) and she won' be using it in the hot months as she can't bear the Texas summer heat. Thus, ye olde mat won't see much action in the hot months.
