But, springs don't fatigue due to compression. They fatigue by constant compression and decompression over time.
I've taken numerous mags for semi-autos out of storage I loaded between 1987 and 1992 and fired them in 2010 with no problem

The reason Revolvers are good is that when there's 6 home invaders, or even just 3 home invaders, you get to carry 4 or 5 "low capacity" revolvers so you have as many cartridges as a "standard capacity" pistol. This is a great justification for buying lots and calling it a "collection" so the spouse doesn't get as mad at the "gun budget"

Examples:

2010
Houston, Texas
Ramon Castillo and Eva, his wife of 30 years, Jewelry Store owners face-off with three armed men who were going to tie them up and shoot them in the head. Four bullets pierced Castillo's body six times because he had to run around getting different "low capacity" guns to fight back.
Castillo's condition was upgraded to fair Wednesday, and he is expected to recover fully. Though "regular" 17-30 round capacity magazines in a "normal" capacity Glock could have benefited Mr. Castillo.

"Castillo, an avid hunter, whipped his hand around the front of his body, pointed the 9 mm Beretta behind him toward the robber and pulled the trigger "

"Castillo then backed up — eyes still forward — grabbed a .380 and fired a few rounds" as he was making his way to a new sawed-off shotgun leaning against a wall that had never been fired.

Shotgun in his hands — and praying the gun wouldn't fail him — Castillo then moved toward the front, trying to see through the fog.

He heard a click from one of the men's pistols, followed by the sound of a bullet cartridge hitting the floor.

Realizing that at least one of the men was out of ammunition, Castillo took aim and shot both men in the face.

"Regular/Standard" capacity magazines in a "normal" capacity Glock could have benefited Mr. Castillo.

Doctor Tells of a 19-Gunshot-Wound Survivor

The surgeon, Dr. Albert Cooper, was attending in the trauma unit of Mary Immaculate Hospital that morning when the call came in announcing two patients with multiple gunshot wounds were en route.

Dr. Cooper, the medical team and hospital staff members convened in the trauma bay and waited, with little idea of what had just transpired. Mr. Bell, Mr. Guzman and Trent Benefield had just left Mr. Bell’s bachelor party at Club Kalua in Jamaica, Queens, when officers investigating the club, believing the men were armed, followed them. In the confrontation that followed, five officers opened fire with 50 shots, killing Mr. Bell and wounding Mr. Benefield and Mr. Guzman.

I have exactly 2 revolvers in my collection. Actually, only 1 because the other is my wifes EDC. The other is a S&W 500 Mag. I have it just because. Maybe the BG is hiding behind the refrigerator........at my neighbors house   .
I really bought it for a hunting trip I made to Alaska a few years ago. I took it to my lodges Range Day a few weeks ago. It will really get some attention when it goes off. Of course, it gets awfully expensive to shoot, even with standard rounds.

Springs have what is called an "elastic limit" that is the amount of compression that a spring can take and not change its shape permanently. If you compress a spring, and it does not come back to 99.9% of the same shape every time, you do not have a spring, you have a coil of weak wire.

Maybe in some old magazines, the designers made some mistakes... I have heard stories of some old 1911 mags being able to shake the rounds out (likely just that... stories).

Modern autos do not have this problem. You can keep mags loaded indefinitely and not worry a bit about it.

This somewhat tongue-in-cheek rationale has become my literal, regular practice. I have gotten in the habit of carrying my small revolver collection, sometimes up to four or five at a time. Why? Mainly because I enjoy them more that way. There are pragmatic reasons, too.

When I was younger my choice to shoot was almost exclusively revolvers, but now (because of arthritis) autos are much more comfortable in my hand.

I like revolvers primarily because they are pleasing to the eye and fun to shoot. That's all the justification I need to carry one from time to time.

Not that there's anything wrong with revolvers. Revolver owners have all the same rights as the rest of us and should be allowed to marry one another and everything. Similarly, although I may sell ammo, I reserved the right to not sell revolver ammo.
