After further reflection, I'm not sure the smacking or hitting was necessary, but it didn't hurt. My initial fear of over adjusting and approaching the limits of the scope were my main concern. The manual warns about doing this and it was also Pawpaw's concern with his when he first went to sight his in. It seems that when Trijicon says they have set these scopes in the middle of the adjustment range before leaving the factory, that if this is true, they have an incredible range that can be adjusted.

Moved the Vortex Sparc II 1x red-dot that was originally on the AR over to my AK. Those sight-ins are in the middle (first group was way off) - the 5 shot-group at the top was with my suppressor.
All shots done at 25 yards.
