Why I live in Texas.

They raid this guys home, found 37ea .25ACP ammo and arrested him.
http://www.enterprisenews.com/news/2017 ... ckton-raid
Detectives raided a city apartment Wednesday and seized dozens of rounds of ammunition from a man who is not licensed to have firearms, police said.
Brockton police detectives executed a search warrant in a first-floor apartment at 73 Winthrop St., about 8:40 a.m.
"There was an investigation into drug distribution going on for weeks," police Detective Sgt. Michael Dennehy said.
Police applied for a search warrant for the apartment and executed it in the morning. The target of the investigation, Tyrone Thompson, was arrested, Dennehy said.

Detectives did not locate any drugs in the home, but seized 37 rounds of .25-caliber handgun ammunition, Dennehy said. It was being stored in a box inside a bedroom, he said.

Thompson is not licensed to carry a gun and doesn't have a firearms identification card, Dennehy said
Maybe the guy is a scum bucket drug dealer maybe not. but imagine having your home busted in by cops and getting busted for having ammo without approval of the commonwealth? Feeling grateful to have escaped that hellhole 30 years ago.

Welcome home, brother.

Having been born in Texas, to parents who were also born in Texas, making the decision to retire in Texas was easy. I can't really imagine leaving what I have know to move to a totally different place, as many of those moving to Texas have done. Closest I can get is moving to several different Army bases, including two in Germany. Still, for those moves, I had a significant support system and a steady job.

Taking what I have learned from living in five different states and two countries over 34 years, Texas has been, and shall always be, God's country.

What the heck is a firearms identification card? What does Massachusetts require?

I think that the reporter got it wrong. As I understand it, the FID is only for rifles and shotguns. To buy a pistol, you have to have a license to carry a firearm. They appear to be two different things.

It is a shall issue card, that requires fingerprints photo and $100. It allows one to own and possess non-high capacity rifles and shotguns. Transporting them is still severely restricted. Renewal in 6 years will still cost $100. You need either the FID or LTC to purchase or possess possess ammo.

No, you only need the FID to possess ammo. The guy that got busted didn't have a gun, just a partial box of .25ACP ammo.

After reading the Mass. regs, you have to have a concealed carry license before you can possess a handgun legally. The license requirement includes a firearms safety course. That means that everyone taking a safety course has to show up without a weapon, and I suppose rent one. Which also means they are using a gun not familiar to them. Yeah, that's a good system. :headscratch

Liberty, this is exactly how I feel about having moved here from Commiefornia 11 years ago. I wasn't born here, but I got here as fast as I could.

And we native Texans are happy to have people who want to come here and embrace the Texas way of life. We do however frown on people from places such as the commenwealth and commiefornia coming here and trying to turn Texas into what they left behind.

:iagree: As do I, Lynyrd, as do I! In fact, with our economy booming and the number of arrivals from liberal states, and with there only being a 4% difference in the number of registered republicans and democrats in Texas, I worry a LOT about that. My prayer is this: that Texas will get ahold of such people and become part of their bones before they can change Texas into another commie dump.

That is my fear also, I know that a lot of people move here to get away from the liberal restrictions on freedoms in their home states, but, even more move here for jobs, and the lack of State income tax. They don't necessarily disagree with the left wing stance on the 2A, like we do here, and often times fail to recognize the liberal policies that caused jobs to leave, and taxes to increase in the first place. That's why I beat it into the heads of all of my friends to vote in every election, from City Councils, County Commissioners, District Attorney, Sheriff, School Boards, and State Legislature. Voter apathy, is our biggest enemy.
