Silver Spur Gun & Blade Show
The Silver Spur Gun & Blade Show out of Ralls now has 30.06 and 30.07 signs posted at the check-in table as your enter. The signs can be very difficult to see if there are several people standing at the table. They put the signs up during 2016, as far as I can tell. Their website has the following posted in the FAQ section:
"I have a CCL, can I carry it in the show?
SAFETY FIRST is our answer, and supporters of the Second Amendment and those of us in the firearm-related industry do not need any more bad publicity. We ask that you unload your firearm, get it checked at the door and either leave your magazine and ammunition in the car, or security can hold them while you walk the show. Our number one concern is safety, followed closely by the demands of our facility insurance underwriter. We are very vigilant about safety rules and regulations for our dealers, and our request for securing of CCL firearms is an extension of that policy."
They have shows in Brownwood, Abilene, Lubbock, San Angelo, Midland, Fredericksburg, and Albuquerque NM. I could not find a way to post this at Texas3006.com so I'm posting here. I won't be attending their shows, and I politely informed them of my decision via e-mail. It's a shame, too! I've been attending their shows since 2005. I guess the passage of Open Carry frightened them since concealed carry was not prohibited prior to 2016.

I remember them having 30.06 signs(Before Open Carry) for years at their shows in Midland and Lubbock. This is not new for them.ShinerJohn wrote:The Silver Spur Gun & Blade Show out of Ralls now has 30.06 and 30.07 signs posted at the check-in table as your enter. How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

I have only been to their shows in Brownwood and Abilene. They didn't post 30.06 at those shows. I won't be going back..

Re: Silver Spur Gun & Blade Show
These gun show operators evidently don't understand the law regarding 30.06 and 30.07
There is no exemption for unloaded tie wrapped guns for LTC holders. They are still in violation carrying past those signs. If the gun show is on property owned by the city or county, they are unenforceable. But as a matter of law, LTC holders carrying any hand gun would be in violation if it is private property.

Re: Silver Spur Gun & Blade Show
You are forgetting one important thing. Assuming the posting is valid the promoter gives the LTC holder effective consent to carry past the sign once the weapon is unloaded and zip tied so no violation occurs.Jusme wrote:These gun show operators evidently don't understand the law regarding 30.06 and 30.07

Wouldn't be worth the bother.
If I licensed, but not welcome to CC, no revenue me to you.

This is my preference also, with the obvious exception of hospitals and other necessities.Abraham wrote:Wouldn't be worth the bother.

I like to shop for, purchase and use guns and ammo. I have proven to the state of Texas that I am a law abiding citizen and capable of passing handgun proficiency test.Abraham wrote:Wouldn't be worth the bother.

You want to sell me guns and ammo, yet deny that my LTC puts me in a category of citizens unlikely to create a safety issue with my concealed handgun. Sorry no sale.
No difference between the gun show promoter and the gun store owner who denies LTC holders entry to their business while legally carrying their handgun.

Gun shows only allow LEO's to have loaded weapons..because you know, they are professionals and not a safety concern.

What an idiot. I'm glad they are so concerned with our safety there.
I did notice that one of the first people on the scene was the cleaning lady. That's efficiency in action.

Thanks for sharing.
Just some guy's opinion.

We can have a good chuckle now but that could have been a horrible scene. I wonder what he was thinking? I like how the backpack guy looks like he's going to get the heck out of there.

Re: Silver Spur Gun & Blade Show
How to be responsible at a gun show:
1) cops remind everyone to KEEP Their loaded gun holsered at ALL TIMES while at the gun show. If it is ever unholstered, you will be asked to leave and inform the venders of the same thing.
OR
2) before entering the gun show, unholster you're loaded firearm, fiddle with it, then unload it while in a crowd of other people doing the same thing. Let the cops zip tie it open. Cops hold on to your ammo (was in the posting) After gun show is over, get your ammunition back from the officer (also in the posting), load your weapon and chamber your firearm and a large crowd of other people doing the same thing again. reholster and leave.
Note: wasn't the last ND at a gun show from a venders "unloaded" shotgun ??
