Does PSC membership qualify as club affiliation for CMP sales?

Post by puma guy »

Can anyone tell me if PSC membership qualifies one to purchase surplus firearms and ammunition? I have always used my TSRA membership which is a qualifying group, but they had somehow erased my lifetime membership. I got it straightened out but I was curious if simple PSC club membership counted or if it's required to shoot in official matches. Thanks anyone who can answer.

I'm not sure, but I know TSRA membership did and might still count. Essentially back when I was looking into it a Texas LTC holder that was a TSRA member was good to go.

I can't speak for today but in the past it did not. We made a large group order for ammo and had to show that we were competing.

The Texas State Rifle Association will count for "club membership" for the CMP. I have bought 3 M1 Garands and lots of ammo from CMP and the TSRA membership works just fine. You can join online and then call them and they will send you an email that you are a member. I sent this email into CMP and they were happy. (It takes a while to get your TSRA card). I have continued on with my TSRA membership because they do good things for Texas gun owners.

Where exactly and how exactly do you take advantage of the CMP?

I know TSRA is a valid club membership for ammo and firearm purchases. CMP's data base indicated my TSRA membership was expired when I called. Customer Service looked me up and saw I was a life member and it was all straightened out and I made my purchase. My question relates to whether PSC Club membership without proof of competing in matches is adequate for ammo and gun sales.

CMP has online sales for a variety of products including firearms and ammunition, both new and surplus. In order to purchase guns and ammo one needs to be affiliated with a club. Membership in Texas State Rifle Association qualifies as a club; NRA membership does not qualify. If you want to see what the CMP has to offer click on the link. There beside rifle sales (and much more) you'll see CMP E-store. There is merchandise, ammo, targets, gear, parts and much more.

Unless we dropped our CMP membership, PSC is an affiliated club. I'll check and post the answer.

I think everyone here ought to be a TSRA member. They do a great job supporting our rights in Texas.

My club actually requires TSRA (or NRA) membership, and I think that's a good thing.
