Two officers confirmed deceased, on Care flighted to Lubbock.

They were responding to a domestic situation of man with a knife. When they arrived gunfire came from the house.
The suspect is still in the house. Many LEO agencies have responded.

edit, Neighbors say the suspect Larry White, has come out and surrendered to police. He does appear to have been wounded, but no details as yet.
Ø resist

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.

2 Odessa Officers Killed, 1 Wounded On Duty
Officers Were Responding To Domestic Disturbance

http://cbs11tv.com/local/local_story_252100936.html

(AP) ODESSA Two police officers responding to a domestic disturbance were killed and a third was critically wounded by a gunman who led Texas authorities on an hours-long standoff, authorities said.

The suspected gunman in the shooting Saturday night, 58-year-old Larry White, will likely face two counts of capital murder and attempted murder of an officer, said Tela Mange, a Department of Public Safety spokeswoman.

Mange said White was shot in the abdomen and was in stable condition at a hospital under police guard.

The wounded officer was transported to University Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock, said Andrea Goodson, a city of Odessa spokeswoman.

Investigators said a woman called authorities around 6:15 p.m. Saturday. When officers responded, she left the home and said her husband had hit her, Mange said.

The officers were not able to enter the house through the front door. When they tried to go in the back door, a man began firing at them. He then came out of the home and continued shooting before going back into the house, Mange said.

The officers were able to call for backup before being shot, Goodson said. Authorities were able to speak with the suspected gunman and he surrendered to authorities after 10 p.m.

Texas Rangers were investigating.

What a way to take a bad situation and make it so much worse . . .

He should've met the police - unarmed! - out on his front porch, locking the door behind him; he could've sorted things out either right there, or in court.

Nobody needed to die.

Now he's killed two cops and may be getting the needle in a couple of years.

Oh I know. The last officer killed here in the line of duty was way back in 1958 and I happen to own the gun that another officer used to kill the creep that killed officer West in 1958, a WW11 Colt 1911 .45. In the gun fight that followed the killing of officer West officer Miles Jones killed the creep, I bought the gun he used several years ago and still have it. I would let it come out of retirement to kill another creep.

Yeah, but the creep that MURDERED them is doing just fine, in spite of being shot in the belly with a .308. Don't know how he survived, but he did, dang it. He even has a lawyer already. How in the devil can you defend someone like this?? What could your defence possiably be???  :fire :fire

Someone has to defend them. There are a variety of ways to defend a client. In this case, the attorney is most likely just going to make sure that the paperwork is correct and that the case is prosecuted fairly. It would be a rare case of a police shooting when an attorney would try for the defense of actual innocence.

Our constitution requires that he be defended in court. Don't transfer your feelings about the defendant to his lawyer following his constitutional duties.
