Denison Man Shot: Castle Law May Apply
A Denison man is shot to death, now Grayson County authorities are investigating.
According to Grayson County Lt. David Hawley, 19-year-old Jimmy Lynn Suter was shot when he attempted to break through the door at a home on Nash Drive just east of Denison around 11 o'clock Friday night.
Authorities aren't releasing the name of the resident who was home at the time, but they say the resident was standing outside with the victim's former girlfriend when deputies arrived.
Suter was taken to Texoma Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
So far, no arrests have been made. Lt. Hawley says, pending investigation, the case will be turned over to the district attorney to determine if the shooting is justified under the Castle Law, which allows Texans to use deadly force in self defense.
The recently expanded version of the Castle Law has only been in effect for 9 days.

This reminds me a time about 15 yrs ago when I was visiting my parents with my wife.
We were startled awake at 2am by some guy kicking open the front door screaming "where's Jennifer"* and ran in towards my brothers room. My brothers and father ended up wrestling him back out the door and we called the police, of course he was gone before the cops got there.
He was a friend of the ex-boyfriend. The door kicker, the boyfriend, and one other were at my parents front door at 2am. We knew them from high school. I heard through the grapevine that he door kicker got arrested but never confirmed anything else happened.
We could have used deadly force that night but I am glad it was not nessecary. 4 adult males in the house, we had the advantage. Who knows what could have gone down if we all were not there.
*names changed to protect the innocent.
I still get angry for this happening to me and my family and prey that idiots think twice about going on a bender and seeking resolution with former girlfriends/boyfriends. It won't end well for anyone.

When my daughter in law was ten years old, her mom and dad told her to watch her brothers (at the farm house) that they were going to run into town to the Grocery Store for a few minutes (about six miles). After they had left, four drunk Indians came to her farm home. They started kicking on the front door trying to force it open. My daughter in law retrived her father's S&W Model 19 and as the front door flew open, she killed the first two Indians through it. The third was left wounded on the front porch and the fourth ran away, was found and arrested the next morning.
The Sheriff told tried to console her and tell her it was not her fault, to which she replied, "I had the responsibility to protect my three borthers".
The Sheriff let it lie after that. She says she has no regrets about it other than the Drunk Indians put her in the position to have to do it.
She had been shooting since she was five.

From this day to the ending of the world we in it shall be remembered. We lucky few, we band of brothers. For he who today sheds his blood with me shall be my brother. CURRAHEE
