Fingerprinting class this morning

Post by Bill »

I am on the way this morning to take a class in fingerprinting from HPD. I help out at the Spring Branch storefront and the Sarge asked if I wanted to learn from the best, so of we go to the lab. I might be able to use this later if I pursue CHL instructor plus we have people coming in needing to be printed but HPD no longer offers that but will allow me to

Kewl!! See if you can get a letter signed by someone there, saying you can take prints, You would need it later if you wanted to get clearance from DPS to do prints for chls.

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.

Strange event, got down to HPD and found out they did not like us doing FPing. They charge 20 bucks and we don't. Its a community service although only me and 2 others will print. The city does not want officers wasting their time unless you pay 20 bucks and only downtown. It really only took a few minutes and was very easy after a few times. They would not give us a letter but my Sarge said he would write one. One of the ladies said the cards that go to the FBI have to be stamped with a dept stamp. I think she was blowing smoke. They even called to the station to see what was up. Well it was really a waste of time for the offices could have shown us just as much.

Yes she is blowing smoke. My prints for my original license was done by a non-leo. The name on the card was the place where i got my class.

Good on the Sarge. Sorry for the rest of it, but you got through it.

Not related to CHL, but when I submitted prints to ATF for my C&R FFL, I did them myself. Just to avoid questions, I had another officer sign off on them.
