RD Warren made a shield holster for my 9mm. He will make one with or without thumb break and they are amoung the best. Only paid 95 dollars and took less than 10 days to receive. Great deal for a good custom made leather holster. I think i put a picture up a few months ago on one of the holster threads.

He won't make one for 1911s with a thumb break anymore because of the different safeties. I was going to have one made for my 3" 1911 and he told me he didn't do thumb breaks anymore.

Awww. Sorry to hear that. The one he made for me has the thumb break. Its my favorite holster of the six that i have for the same gun. I have the smith and wesson shield though.

Just making sure as some people carry hammer down and the picture showed that as well. I have been thinking about one but haven't ever bought from El Paso.
I just got a galco silhouette high ride holster for my GP100 Match Champion. It arrived in 3 days and the fit is perfect. Normally, with galco, I have to stretch them and work the retention strap before they fit right, but not this time. It was a perfect fit and I carried it concealed all weekend with no problem. I do like having the thumb break on a larger revolver holster. The snap breaks so cleanly and naturally, that I don't worry about it hindering my draw. It is nice to have a big .357 on my hip from time to time.

I guess the next question would be is it made to carry cocked and locked.
Gentlemen:
Thanks for the tip on el Paso Saddlery! Just ordered my first thumb break 1911 holster from them. Should be here by end of September.
MUCH APPRECIATED!

Just in case you don't know, the holster will be very tight and the thumb break hard to snap, at first. The fastest way to loosen the holster is to drop an unloaded pistol into a thin sock and then holster it and force the thumb break to snap. Leave it that way overnight & then test it. If it needs more time, you'll know.
