When Gun Control Leads to Use of Other Weapons?

#1

The UK is one of the shining examples of Utopian gun control that the left always preaches about. Of course, in the absence of guns, evil people will simply find other weapons to use to cause harm to their fellow man. (Shhh...don't tell the liberals! Facts and data might get in the way of their emotional arguments!)

Acid attacks are rapidly becoming the 'norm' in the UK. According to this article, there have been hundreds of attacks in the first portion of this year alone.
Much to public alarm, the number of incidents where assailants have used acid has risen sharply, with police figures suggesting there had been more than 400 corrosive substance attacks in the six months to April this year.

Many victims were left with serious, life-changing injuries as a result.
So what to do when Gun Control doesn't stop crime? Acid Control!
The proposed new laws will make it illegal to sell the most harmful corrosive substances to under-18s while the carrying of acid in public without good reason will be banned.

(snip)

At the moment, businesses that sell sulphuric acid have to tell the police of any theft or loss, but the new law would mean anyone wanting to buy it above a certain concentration would have to have a Home Office license.
Oh yeah, and Knife Control!
Rudd also announced plans to further restrict the online sale of knives to under-18s following a significant increase in the number of stabbings.
Your number one option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
When those fail, aim for center mass.

This dolt has somehow completely forgotten about sharp pointy stick control and heavy rock control. Clearly we need some common sense restrictions on those weapons of war as well!

Why is it so difficult to understand that criminals don't obey weapons control laws? :banghead:

Next thing they'll do is prosecute people for defending themselves against criminals.

Oh wait. They already do that.

Never mind.
1911s should be carried openly as God and John Moses Browning (PBUH) intended them to be.

It's not that they want people to be hurt and killed by criminals. It's just that allowing people to defend themselves might lead to the absurd notion that the people do not need to be completely reliant on the government for their protection. Then you get nasty notions like self sufficiency, and dare I say it, "freedom". All this is very counterproductive when we are trying to establish an all powerful government, you see.

They may even start running people down with cars on places with no where to run like a bridge... Oh wait....

And even then, it takes a special policeman with a GUN to stop the maniac.

Europe has a lot of attacks by truckmen the last couple of years.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

It always seemed like the left wasted a lot of time and energy trying to restrict rifles when we have less that 500 murders per year. Sometimes way less. The number made even more insignificant when you consider every year the murder by hammer/club is always higher by about 150%.
More than likely suicides are included in the rifle numbers. Pretty sure there are no suicide numbers included in the hammer and club category...

They're quick to say that the UK doesn't have (or more accurately has less) the gun deaths that the USA has. That may be true based on pure numbers not adjusted for per capita, and also lumping in gang on gang violence. But what they don't want to hear is that in the absensence of a strong armed citizenry, the UK's violent crime across the board is higher.

Exactly right. Just like in Mexico disarming the people only meant disarming those who follow the law. The criminals could care less. In fact disarming the people only gives more power to the bad guys!

In Mexico there are villages where if you don't pay your protection tax they will send some of their goons to make you pay in blood. I have heard stories of them taking newborn babies and babies just a few months old by the ankles and bashing their heads in against walls. Then telling the mothers they better pay next time. My uncle was abducted in Ojinaga and taken to a ranch where people were made into slaves and there was a shed on that ranch where they would hang people from meat hooks! Things from horror movies that should never happen. My uncle escaped and tried coming to the US, but that was going on 4 years ago this November. No one has seen or heard from him since. I pray our great Nation will never follow the paths of other nations even though I see us slipping more and more every day.

Plastic rather than glass beer pint laws, to prevent glassing in bars. ( killing or seriously injuring you by smashing a glass pint in your face). It's also a problem in Australia as well. 87,000 incidents in peaceful Gun free U.K. Last year.
