I'm going to cast the dissenting vote here. Admittedly, I'm biased from using speedloaders (HKS, and Safariland Comp-3) in competition. Plus, I don't think that a J-Frame HKS loader with .38 SPL or .357 Mag cartridges take up all that much room. :evil2:

On days when I decide to carry a revolver instead of my normal 1911, I carry both in the door pocket of my car. When I get out, I will put one or the other in my pocket depending on what I am wearing that day.

On days when I am carrying something other than a revolver, my GP 100 or SP101 is still in the car, but I only have speed loaders in the door pocket.

I carried speed strips for a Model 19 many years ago. I switched to speed loaders when they came out. (I have a bad habit of referring to both speed strips and speed loaders as "speed loaders" but there is a big difference.) I haven't carried a revolver in many years, so I don't have any recent experience with either. Strips are easier to carry and speed loaders are much faster. Like everything related to self-defense handguns, it's a trade-off and judgment call.

:iagree:

If I am carrying an ultra light J frame it is for maximum concealability and therefore I use the strips. Otherwise I'll be carrying an auto with or without a reload depending.

I have always carried speed strips and I carry just in my front left pocket. I have been wanting to get some speed loaders though as they would be faster and easy to conceal in a big coat pocket for winter carry. (If we actually have a cold winter this year)

I have been carrying speed strips in a tuff products carrier that goes on my belt and it is invisible. I don’t even know it’s there and it doesn’t print at all. And if my shirt came up it just looks like a black nylon card carrier. It can hold two strips but I usually just carry one for my LCR 357. I really enjoy carrying a wheel gun. I’m glad I added it to my collection this year. I ordered a high viz fiber optic front sight and some hogue G10 grips for it that allow a full grip on the gun and also have a crossbreed supertuck comin for it. I think with all the upgrades it is really goin to make it an even more awesome carry gun. Lately I’ve been carrying in the pocket because my crossbreed hasn’t arrived yet. I bought some snap caps and have been practicing my reloads with speed strips. It’s definitley something new but I’m getting the hang of it and I’m starting to feel comfortable doin it.

I like the idea of strips but could never get the hang of it and too lazy to practice since I rarely carry a wheel gun so... speed loader for me. :tiphat:

My wife prefers using a speed loader for her Ruger LCR .38. Works for her.

I prefer my 17+1 S&W M&P Mod 2.0 9mm. ;-)

Just over a month ago, I got my wife a Ruger SP-101 and some speed loaders

So far so good.

I don't carry a revolver, or own one, but if I did I would be looking at Moom clips.
Any reason why you wouldn't go that route? Obviously not familiar with them.

I carry two speed strips for my .357 magnum Ruger SP-101 and Speed-Six. And when I convert the Speed-Six back to 9mm, it's four half-moon clips - in my jeans watch pocket they sit easier than full-moons.

I don’t like moon clips. I’ve messed with them before

Neither. I carry 15 rounds of .357 magnum distributed in three revolvers. It works well for my sedentary situation.
