I am looking for an ear plug, because its cheapest, but i want reasonable hearing protection. Basically, i want to be able to be able to bird hunt with buddies and talk to them and hear them, but have protection when i fire.
Im still searching on here for answers too!

i use the second option with the internal baffle for shotguns. i have always used them for my pistols until this last weekend when my buddy next to me was shooting a 357mag making my entire face hurt from the sound.
i am interested in getting ear plugs made at the hearing aid store. i used to work at elm fork and alot of the guys wore custom plugs. they'll even mold headphones in to them for you to listen to your mp3 player while you shoot.

Where do you live? I know a few places personally. You will have two options. The first is simple molds. Whenever you get fitted for a eharing aid, they take a mold of your outer ear and canal. They send these off to the hearing lab to make the hearing aids. They can just send you home with these molds and charge abour 30-40 dollars.
The second option is when they take these molds, then they send them off to the lab where they make longer lasting plugs out of a different material. More durable. For shooting a few times a week, the cheaper in-office ones will last you well into a year and are very comfortable.

Im really interested in spending as little money as possible here. More than 20 bucks is out of the question. These will be used for dove hunting.....meaning once a month at the most. Any range shooting or skeet shooting i do, i use regular ear plugs or ear muffs.
I guess ill give one of those links a try.
Do the ones in the second link work well? Are you happy with them?

i have been happy with the ones from the original second link. i recently purchased some ear-muffs for gun range practice becuase i'm not sure if the handguns are too loud for the plugs or if they have just gotten old and need to be replaced.
for dove hunting, i would just go get some disposable 35db ear plugs at the academy and call it a day.
