Been to 2 continents, 7 countries and about 30 U.S states... There's a reason why I live in Texas...

I'm good... Think I'll just stay here....

We have family in PA and travel there driving every couple of years. A great part of the National Reciprocity would relieve me of having to stop in Virginia and go through the FOPA routine so that I can drive along the very short stretch of I-81 in Maryland lawfully. We have friends in NJ but we havn't been to visit them recently. It would be nice to be able to drive there, too, since it is a short trip from our PA family.

We are three States shy of visiting all 50 - Oregon, Montana and Alaska. We plan to fly to Alaska but a driving tour through Oregon and Washington with a turn through Idaho and Montana would finish our list. I probably wouldn't do that if I had to go unarmed.

So educate me please. So the 30.06 or 30.07 would no longer apply?

It would still apply - as would the laws in every other state. National Reciprocity only requires every state to recognize your license and allow you to carry. But you must still follow local laws just as you do when driving in other states. So states that have limits on capacity, type of ammunition, places you can carry, signage etc. still apply. It is incumbent on the person to know the laws of the jurisdiction you are traveling through.

Austin. I’d go to Austin.
Your best option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
When those fail, aim for center mass.

So Recip is still a bag of worms what with no standardization i.e., must conform to 50 different state laws if you carry, oh joy...!

Worst case will be we will have to comply only in the states we enter. Hopefully, the bill, allows that we can carry the guns ammo and mags that we we can carry on our home states. In either case we won't be any worse off than we are now.
