gun parts shipped thru USPS..

Post by Reysc »

I've always believe there is no problem shipping gun parts thru usps ( slides or frames in a disassembled stage) for factory warranties/repair. Am I correct?? Just being sure!
Thanks!

As far as the feds are concerned, the receiver is the firearm. You cannot legally ship a handgun receiver by USPS, but an FFL can.

No ordinary part like a magazine or slide is restricted at the federal level.

It's not always the receiver. The ATF has a checklist of how to detirmine what parts are the "controlled" parts, but usually it's the part with a serial number.

You should also check with the repair center you are sending the parts to. They will know - as they do this all the time.. If they don't do this all the time - I would find another repair center..
