24hr Fitness Carry
Hello all,
I recently joined 24hr fitness and there are no 30.06 signs posted however after looking in their membership policies it says:
"No Weapons of any kind of permitted in 24 Hour's Facilities"
I just want to carry and then store it in a gym bag that will be locked up..any opinions on this?
Just wanted to make sure i'm good to go since there is no 30.06 sign correct?
Thanks

If your gun is seen you could be barred from the facilities, You could be given verbal notice. But you can not be criminally charged.SiG239 wrote:Hello all,

SIG239,
Just be sure you have a very good lock!! Lots of lockers have been broken into at the 24 Hour Fitness I go to. Some locks were cut off, some key locks were unlocked and then relocked. Some combination locks were picked too. ( I have been told that there are videos on YouTube with lock picking instructions)
There have also been many vehicles broken into in the parking lot. The thieves know they have at least 20 mins. after you park and go inside.
FYI: Your stuff is not safe in your car or your locker.
Regards, OE

You might consider fanny pack carry for your visits. It's about the only way you can get the gun off your person and into the locker without anyone else in the locker room knowing you have a gun.
Then get a high quality lock like a Master lock (a hefty one) with a good hardened bolt and you should be OK.
Don't get a black nylon "tactical-looking" fanny pack. My favorite type is made of brown leather.

Ahm jus' a Southern boy trapped in a Yankee's body
thanks for the input everyone.
I had no idea that people were focusing on breaking into the lockers, I know cars in the parking lot have been an issue and they posted some signs about this. I really may have to rethink carrying at all in there. Next step will be to ask if locker theft has been a problem at this location I guess. If it has not been a huge issue there then I will invest into a quality lock.

I'm not sure if I want to carry there because if caught I'll lose the lifetime membership I paid for :( If I were to carry, I would keep it in my bag which stays with me at all times. The rules say "No Bags on the Workout Floor", but no one ever says anything about it. I definitely wouldn't leave it in a locker.

I'm not so gung ho these days as to actually go to a fitness center
but if I did, I think I would at least try out carrying something like a Kel-Tec P-3AT in one of those Kramer under shirts (http://kramerleather.com/products.cfm?categoryID=21) or something similar (along with my TDL and CHL, of course). Yes I would have to clean it thoroughly after sweating all over it, but thems the breaks. I sweat all over my primary gun anyway just going outside to do chores.
I would be REALLY uncomfortable leaving a gun (or my wallet) in the locker or the car. I suppose you could put a locking box in the car (or even inside the locker, I suppose), but with my luck I would get clobbered in the parking lot walking back to my car.
Oh, what do you do with the gun while in the shower? Dunno, guess you could leave it in the locker and take the world's quickest shower. I suppose if you workout with someone else who has a CHL, you could take turns guarding each other's stuff.
Good luck.

I'm going to go with the gym bag carry method w/XD40 and lock it up well then rearm in the stall I guess. I've been going the last couple days and have been paying very close attention to the people and when I go after work it's not that busy in the gym. I wont put anything in a locker if there is someone who can see what locker I will be using.
There is hardly anyone in the locker room and I should be good to go. I def. do not feel comfortable leaving any valuables in the car, and mainly want to focus on the carry to/from the car because every time my girlfriend and I are leaving, there are always characters around the lot.
Thanks for the replies everyone
