Appearance and price puts it comparable to a Rock Island Armory 1911. The RIA's have some good reports for the money.

The good news is they are priced better then some 1911 pistols.
The guns are made at Armscor in the Philippines same place that makes several other cheaper priced 1911s.
I know they make the:
RIA= Rock Island 45 & 38 supers
Daley 45
High Standard 45
I have never shot or held a High Standard 45 but I have a RIA 45 Compact Tactical and it shoots real good no jams or failed to feed no problems with it at all.
If the High Standard performs like my RIA it will be a good gun.
Now I hear that High Standards Warranty service is not so good but I can not confirm this at all and so i would give then the benefit of the doughty myself until I had to deal with them.

Armscor?
I asked the same question over on the m1911 forum.
The RIA/Armscor resident rep there said that early production was Armscor, making them the same as a Rock Island. At some point they got away from Armscor and began using an unnamed other supplier.
Who knows. Could be FEG, which is who makes the Charles Daly HiPowers and possibly their 1911s.

Re: Pro's and Con's on a handgun.
We have one in our stable.It's a great gun then made by Armscor. I really don't know who manufactures them now. that's a long story. If you are looking at one right now and it's in good condition under $350.00 OTD, get it!! It is the same quality as the RIA/ARMSCOR 1911. The reason it is "cheap" is due to the foreign exchange advantage the Dollar has over the Peso and the relatively inexpensive cost of skilled labor in the Philippines. Nothing to do w/ the quality and workmanship of the firearm. Now those are the PROs.. On the CONS hmmm, dunno! It's a "cheap" gun and you get what you pay for???calvinbr wrote:I am needing some information on a NEW High Standard 5" 1911's.
