Suggestions On Storage In National Park?

Post by dihappy »

Headin down to Padre Island National Seashore this weekend and was hoping i could get some suggestions on how to remain legal while im fishing down there.

From the website:
Firearms

Loaded firearms are strictly prohibited. A concealed handgun license issued under the authority of the Sate of Texas, or another state, is not valid at the National Seashore.

Unloaded weapons may be possessed only when such weapons are rendered temporarily inoperable, or are packed, cased or stored in a manner that will prevent their ready use.

Gun unloaded in a locked case of some sort will do the trick. Or gun unloaded and locked in the trunk.

IANAL, but I think that as long as the case was locked away (as in the trunk), you would be OK to have a loaded mag in it.

I love the Padre Island National Seashore. I am in the first year of my CHL, and am planning future trips to Mustang Island instead of Padre. Due to the remote nature of camping on the beach there, I don't see it prudent to have my firearm inaccessible in a situation where I might need it most.

Isn't it sad that our National Parks are "victim zones!" Wouldn't you want it to be accessible when you ran into these guys!! http://www.kristv.com/Global/story.asp?S=7054145

Why can't liberals understand?
