I have never seen a 30.06 sign at a Hamfest, but the building might be permanently posted (unless it is a city owned building and invalid.)

Well, their website says:

WEAPONS POLICY

Weapons, concealed or otherwise, are prohibited on the entire premises, parking areas, and any building, or portion of a building, operated by Bell County Exposition Center, Inc. whether leased or owned by the Corporation, even if otherwise permitted by Title 70 Article 4413 (29ee) Revised Civil Statutes of Texas.

“Weapon” is defined as shown in Chapter 46.01 (1-16) of the Texas Penal Code, and includes concealed handguns.

This prohibition shall not apply to a licensed security officer, a licensed peace officer, or a member of the armed forces or national guard or a guard employed by a penal institution or an officer of the court, when such a person is in the actual discharge of his official duties as such, nor shall it apply to unloaded guns for sale of display at a scheduled gun show event and checked and made safe at the door.

Violations will be prosecuted in whatever manner is provided by law.

But a) that isn't worded as a 30.06 notice, and b) it appears that it may be county-owned, managed by a non-profit. A quick phone call to just nearly any county office should confirm that, though. If there's no proper 30.06 posting at the door, or if it's county owned, then "whatever manner is provided by law" would amount to nothing.

Too bad I'm working 12-hour shifts this weekend. I'd like to go, but even if I were willing to miss the sleep, the best deals would be long gone before I even got on the road.

In addition to the standard "government owned = CHL legal" argument, you might have another thing on your side. If they allow guns, you can't allow them in one case (for sale) and keep them out in another (CHL) as texas law does not provide for a distinction between loaded and unloaded. So "Come on in with your firearm unloaded" translates to "Come on in with your firearm" in legal speak. Then they can't also say "Don't come in with your firearm" at the same time.

This one is much more gray (as far as I am concerned) than the government owned argument though.

To save everyone typing time, I'll re-hash the argument: Frankie believes that if a non-government group leases a government owned building, then they are allowed to enforce 30.06 signs despite what the law says. Almost no one agrees with that position.

Now... there's no need to repeat the arguments yet again.
