Proposal to stop calling Alamo defenders ‘heroic’ has Texas governor fuming

AUSTIN — A panel advising the State Board of Education on what seventh-graders should learn in their social studies courses has urged deleting the label "heroic" from a curriculum standard about the Alamo's defenders.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

people can call them whatever they want. whether libtards decide to call them heroic or not, doesn't make them any less heroic.

The real thrust of the proposal is eliminating the whole idea that anyone can act heroically. To recognize actions as heroic implies that some ideas and values are more important to a healthy society than others might be and are worth going to extremes to uphold and defend. Progressives are waging war on all the ideals and institutions that led to the Enlightenment and ultimately to the creation of this great experiment in self-rule, and this is just the latest skirmish. The Progressives gained control of Education in the country decades ago as they were gaining control of the Media -- all to influence the next generation to de-value everything of real value to a healthy society.

"This politically correct nonsense is why I'll always fight to honor the Alamo defenders' sacrifice. His letter & the defenders' actions must remain at the very core of TX history teaching," Bush tweeted Thursday, referring to the Travis letter. "This is not debatable to me."
Apparently, he is catching on.

Texas children should be exposed to the opinions and facts around Santa Anna. The Mexicans don't hold him in regard. What does that tell you?

From an email I received from Copano Bay Express The Board is still considering altering history about the heroes of The Alamo.

(After word got out about the possible changes, the Travis letter was reinstated because the public objected to such a stupid move. “Informal public feedback” was how they officially worded it.)

The panel who made the suggestions is comprised of 8 Texas social studies teachers, “coordinators,” and “specialists” selected by the Board of Education. Per the streamlining guidelines, posted on the Texas Education Agency’s website, “Feedback will be accepted in response to work group drafts throughout the streamlining process.”

So, while this anti-heroism travesty may not have originated with the 8 members of Work Group E, they chose to allow it in their recommendations and have opted to keep it there. If you’d like their names and home districts, I’d be happy to provide them. Just let me know.

The Board of Education will vote on whether or not to accept the Work Group’s recommendations in November. Between now and then, we need to raise our voices and let the Board know that we LIKE that “heroic” is a value-charged word because we LIKE values.

Let them know the definition of a hero and that the men of the Alamo embody that definition. And lastly, remind them that they are elected.

The State Board of Education has a public hearing on the changes scheduled for Tuesday, September 11. This hearing will ironically be held at the Capitol’s William B. Travis Building, Room 1-104 around 9 a.m. Each member of the public gets 2 minutes to speak.

If you can’t make it to Austin on Tuesday, you can contact the Board of Education member that represents your area. Member emails and phone numbers can be found here:
