I Understand That Gander Mountain Is Going To Lower
The Price On Some Of Their Firearms Tomarrow.
Seems that a 35% reduction in Sales of Firearms after their giantantic
raising of Prices of Firearms about a month or a month and a half ago has got the Corporate Weinners Attention.
Makes me laugh at the Greed and Lack of Common Sense of the Little MBAs running corproations in this country.

My last trip there was pretty interesting. "Why are these prices so high, I could pick up any one of these for $150 cheaper at least."
"Well you see we have the gander warranty on all these firearms which covers them in case of blah blah blah"
What if I don't want a warranty because the gun already comes with a transferrable lifetime guarentee?
"Well, um, but the shipping is taken care of through us."
I'd rather take my chances and save the money.
Looks like common sense prevailed again.

I was at the grand opening of the one in Lubbock on saturday. I was looking at the Springfield XD40 service model and they wanted $549.00. Our local shop here in Brownfield can get it for $479.00. And I can get one from several small shops in Lubbock for $479.00 to $499.00. I also noticed the Taurus PT 111 Pro was $399.00 and I paid $295.00 for the one I bought for my daughter. I won't be buying any handguns from them unless they come down quite a bit. I was impressed though by the numbers of guns they had for sale. I prefer to buy from the smaller shops anyway. The three small ones I know of in Lubbock are owned by a police officer, a firefighter and a paramedic.
The last few times I've been in Gander Mtn in Beaumont, I was rather unimpressed.
I actually had to HUNT for a store clerk. I know the average customer probably isn't a 30-ish female, but please--humor me. They have very little for the handgun reloader, and what they do have is overpriced.
The guns are way out there. I don't know how they sell any, unless that many people are truly uninformed on what handguns are supposed to cost.
I told dh that I really would rather not bother with them anymore.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

Venus, I was at that store on Monday night. Sticker shock combined with poor service is not a positive. When I did get a sales clerk, he was very helpful but, as he looked up a weapon to order, we both stated that there was no way that either of us would buy the weapon for that price.
I did pick up some .22lr and a set of tools.

Glock 19 at Gander Mountain on 290 in Houston.... $799!!!
Say Wha???
Whatchoo talkin' bout, Willis??
Those asinine prices combined with NOTHING being labled with a price made me want to rip my own arm off and beat the nearest clerk with it.... too bad I couldn't FIND A CLERK!
I hate to bad-mouth them, its not that I have anything personal against them, but with Academy literally across the street, how can I possibly justify paying $799 for a gun that is $489 200 yards away??

I havent had a problem finding clerks at GM, I've had problems with them willing to help me.I've stood at a counter for 20mins only to have the guy behind me waited on first b/c the clerk noticed the male figure at the counter.I've noticed this at alot of gun shows and gun stores. They wont help or even ask the women if they need assistance.
I've completely gone left on a clerk b/c he looked right at me and walked off.I was like "HEY! I need help here.I'm not standing here for my health." Then the idiot didnt know what the difference between .45GAP,.45ACP and .45LC were when I went to get my ammo.
I have a Henry BigBoy .45 in layaway at GM for my dad for his 50th b-day but after that I'm going back to my fav "local" gun store, Shooter's Station in Conroe,TX.They take damn good care of a gal or guy and the owners know me by name lol.Just shows you how the little guys can still have an impact by actually giving that extra attention that the big chains dont care about.

Last time I was there I too had extreme sticker shock. I had just bought a Sig 220 SAO from my fav gun shop (Champion Firearms) and they had the same model but with less features for A LOT more. I was amazed. I told the clerk that was following me around (they were slow I guess) and he couldn't give me any answer. I saw a Glock for $799 and asked him what was so special about it, and he said "Nothing just a regular stock Glock." I gave him a dissaproving look that I could tell he's gotten many times so far and left. The only thing I can figure out is that they wait for people who just don't know any better and set the screws to them.

My posts on this website are worth every cent you paid me for them.

gander...
I asked the sales person why their prices was so high (at the Tyler store) and he rolled off the same spiel about the warranty, etc. I think the main issue is thatr so many people are just clueless. They walk in, without shopping around, and plop their money on the counter just looking to be taken for a ride. I have found a couple of used guns at descent prices at Gander, but their new guns are outrageous.
