Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?

I hear ya! There are a couple people I see every week that like to spread the half truths and bull so it's important to me to be able to correct them or at least give the rest of the story to the group!

I'm voting for Cruz but I'm not sure it really matters in the long run. When the Democrats were in charge, the country was cruising along at 60 mph toward a third world socialist-hole. If Bernie had been elected President, the speed might have increased a little or a lot. When Trump was elected, things slowed down for a bit, but it didn't stop. Now we're back up to 45 mph or so, and Grassley wants to give it gas.

We've got to get enough people in the right places to slow it down before we can begin to reverse course.

On that we agree completely. Let's look at the facts. The majority party in the House is the same as the majority party in the Senate. The President is also from that party. It's pretty clear that voting for that party doesn't get the right people in the right places to slow down the double time march toward a third world socialist-hole.

I'm still voting for Cruz but I'm not sure about the rest of them.

Unlike the democrats it's hard as all get out to get republicans to vote a straight party line on anything controversial because so many of them come from purple districts.

You're not going to find a dem that's going to vote with them consistently either and third party votes are just a wasted vote that help dem's win.

Where we have to take a stand and get active is in the primaries to ensure conservatives, not just republicans make the trip to DC and then we can effect some real change.

If the GOP party leadership can't make Republican legislators toe the line on platform issues, that's a big problem. At election time, if the GOP party leadership endorse those who strayed, they're perpetuating the problem. When they do that, they make their endorsement a rubber stamp and effectively useless for conservatives who care about issues more than they care about the party.

I told my elected officials what they need to accomplish to earn my vote. Incumbents who don't deliver don't get my vote.

Does CNN have to report that as an in-kind contribution to the Beto campaign?

The longtime speaker of the house was the big problem that kept the decent republicans and conservatives from advancing the cause at a reasonable rate. He was nothing but a leftwing democrat with an R by his name.

He's gone now and I have some faith we'll start gaining a lot more ground a lot more rapidly.

Voting for anything else even third party just ensures we hand over power to those who see us as the enemy.

My wife is Mexican American and is a staunch Democrat. She always corrects me when I tell her I am Hispanic (since my grandfather immigrated from Spain). I love asking her why she is planning to vote for the Irish guy instead of the Hispanic in this upcoming election. She doesn't seem to have a good answer for that one.
