Boycott HPD

Post by Gator Guy »

Maybe some of y'all have heard about this already. The Houston Police Department leadership and the Houston Police Officers Union are opposed to the right of ordinary people to keep and bear arms. As a firearms owner I find this highly unacceptable. This is a slap in the face to the 2A community and the United States Constitution by a once respected law enforcement agency. I can thankfully say I do not belong to those organizations or any other armed opposition to the United States Constitution. If I did, I would most certainly quit. Below are some links about this.

Far as I am concerned he is no longer welcome in Texas. I was so happy when he left Austin. He needs to be sent back to California. His politics are not welcome in this state. He's a hypocrite of the highest form. He's anti-gun yet carries a weapon as a "police officer". If the Houston mayor had any courage he would fire Art. Send him packing.

Acevedo is a bad person, with fluid morals.

:iagree:

Unfortunately, there are a lot of good men and women, who are shackled to him through no choice of their own. While every department, has bad apples, he casts a pall over all of those who put on the HPD uniform, and strive to uphold their oath. JMHO

I will more than likely be at the George R Brown Convention Center tomorrow. Think I will open carry.
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

Yep, and he left some in Austin when he jumped ship for Houston. Still, we (Austin metroplex) are better off without him.

I boycott all law enforcement agencies. I make it a point to not do any business with or interact with them in an official capacity in any way. I don't break the law and they leave me alone. It's a mutual thing.

:iagree: There in lies the problem when dealing with a police leader who has fluid morals. You can be very clean and still run afoul of the "law". Erik Scott found that out in Las Vegas.

Is the Sheriff much better?
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

When I did the Citizens class with my local PD, on day 1 the Chief (and subsequently several other instructor/officers, two of them even transplants from California) spoke plainly about the departments commitment to the Constitution. I'm happy to interact with and support them.

For those that didn't detect it, my comment was a tongue in cheek play on the words "law enforcement agencies", "boycott" and "official capacity". In other more plain and direct terms, I was making a joke about not getting busted by being a law abiding citizen.

I know it is hard to pick up the subtleties and nuances of jokes in a written format such as this but I thought in this case the joke would be obvious. Apparently, I was wrong.

I too have attended a Citizens Academy and I meet regularly with a deputy I mentor.

WRONG! :nono: If he had fluid morals, he would sometimes do the right thing.

Avecedo is a bad person with bad morals.

A fleeing homeless man was gunned down from behind while Acevedo was chief in Austin. We're STILL waiting on that body camera video.
