Don't most 1911'a lock open when the last shot is fired? Its about a gun malfunction not a reloading issue. I think this is an "in the case of failure" fix. I got to thinking about this though. It occoured to me that this was designed with Californian LEOs in mind. I but they run around uncharged. Makes sense. They would be more concerened about not being able to to cock the darned thing for the first shot. Being designed for undercover LEOs this gun might even be expected to be carried without holster.
