Just coming back from Indiana today, was at the NRA annual meeting on Friday. Like last year I just went to the exhibit hall, but that was enough for me. Took my sister and got her renewed as a member, and my nephew who is a current member, and we had a great time.

I preferred the exhibit hall lay out at Kay Bailey Hutchison convention Center up in Dallas – – it was more open, things weren't jammed together as much as at Indy. But was still fun to walk around and see all the stuff. My sister and nephew had not been to one before and they were suitably impressed.

I grew up in Indiana and was familiar with the amish and Mennonite communities, but I wasn’t expecting to see three Amish guys at the exhibit hall. Look like they were having a good time. More power to them.

I managed to Get out of the hall having bought only a cold steel counterpoint 2 knife And a couple of expensive cokes.

If you haven’t been to iNRA annual meeting, it is worth it to go just for the exhibits. I think next year’s meeting is also in Indianapolis, not sure when I comes back to Texas next.

I believe 2020 annual meeting is in Nashville.

Well, I guess if they bought any handguns, they had to get the "all black" models, like their horse-drawn wagons.
A bi-tone pistol would be too racy for them. :-)

Amish and Mennonites are not adverse to owning firearms. Many hunt and some use them as an investment. One Mennonite man I knew had a VERY large collection of higher-end guns. He auctioned a large lot of them off and our estimate from talking with the Auctioneer was he cleared somewhere over $500K after auction fees.

Walked around the exhibits friday and saturday with my aunt and uncle. Took 2 days with the older folks. Sunday I managed to go thru all the exhibits in a single day with my cousin. Got to add a few more autographs to my collection, and saw a few interesting toys. My trip started off interesting as Ted Cruz was on my flight from DFW to Indy. I've got some photos and stories to share at the next breakfast in Frisco. Hope to see you there!

I am on an Indiana gun forum as well, and they of course are talking about their experiences. One of them is a vendor that had a booth at the exhibit hall, I bought some binocs from him last year in Dallas.

Anyway he said the Amish fellows came by and one of them bought a scope from him but wanted to leave it at the booth to pick up later. The vendor normally asks for an ID and records it in case he doesn't remember the customer later when he comes to pick it up.

The Amish guy didn't have any ID, but said "Can't you just write 'Amish' on the receipt, there's not that many of us and the others aren't going to steal it."
