New Gun:S&W M&P Performance Center Shield 4" Barrel

Post by bblhd672 »

Picked up the new S&W M&P Performance Center Shield 4" Barrel.

Took it to the range and ran about 150 rounds of various 9mm ball ammo as well as a magazine of my preferred carry ammo (Federal HST 124gr +P). Ran flawlessly through all of them.
As expected, the Performance Center trigger is smooth with a nice reset. The fit of the slide is excellent, all of the parts are tight and move well. The standard non-night fiber optic sights will need to be replaced with TruGlo TFX Pro Fiber/Night sights like I have on my other PC Shield and my Full Size.
I haven't been to the range much recently, and it shows. The gun is obviously more capable of tight groups, however my lack of practice recently is evident beyond 7 yards. Much more range time and attention to fundamentals is needed.

Here's a few pictures I took of the new gun and with the 2.0 Compact 4" to show the size difference. The Compact is slightly wider to accommodate the double stack magazine. Otherwise they are pretty close to the same.
(Sorry for the quality...first time using imgur to post and edit pics)

The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager
