The link above contains text about this incident, as well as the LEO's bodycams.

The driver LEO fired 64 rounds. He was on the force less than a year, and was fired for this incident.
The passenger LEO fired 12 rounds. He has 10 years in, has not been fired, but his bosses aren't too happy with him either.

Whew, glad they got that bad dude with air pistol off the streets! I’m sure none of their rounds fired caused any damage to innocent people’s property or put anyone in danger.

I'll give the driver credit, he went in all in and finished the job. But holy smokes was that stupid.

Yeah, I’m not sure how necessary those final 4-5 rounds were, but I’m not judging. The perp looked like he was already done fighting, but I’m sure that adrenalin was partially in control. But all of that aside, this is an illustration relevant to threads here over the years about discharging our firearms from inside our vehicles. My guess is that neither of those two officers' hearing is going to be worth a cup of warm spit for a couple of weeks, and their ears will ring for the rest of their lives.

Those guys are calm in the midst of a very tense situation. I don’t fault them for thinking that the airsoft was a real firearm. If the officer followed his training and did not violate departmental policy or did not disregard direct orders from a superior then I fail to see why he is fired.

This Police Officer should have never been an Officer. He was more concerned about “getting “ his prey than he was about public safety. He drove at a high rates of speed with little or no control of his vehicle. He also sent multiple rounds down range with no idea if he would have a safe back drop. He had no expectation of hitting his target. He fired through angled laminated glass. We would also be charged if we had fired the final rounds after the threat had been neutralized. This Officer was more concerned about his ego than that of public safety.

I have a feeling that this video is going to be shown in a lot of department / academy training sessions.

I am not a LEO, but do police academies teach one handed shooting through the windshield while driving in a high speed pursuit??

Kinda reminded me of the westerns where the cowboys shoot while galloping on their horse.
