Caliber Wars, Brazilian-Style

Post by BSHII »

A 2013 article I stumbled across that reaffirms my religious views when it comes to the .45:

https://www.insightcrime.org/news/brief ... ns-police/

Brazil will now allow cops and firefighters "to buy powerful .45 caliber guns for personal use, raising fears over how the weapons will be used and where they might end up." Previously, state and local cops were limited to "less lethal .40 or .38 weapons."

This sparked concern over this "more powerful weaponry" in the hands of local police. "'They are giving weapons to the police that they don’t know how to use. This is putting the safety of the police and the population at risk,'" said one "violence prevention NGO." There are concerns "the increased availability of .45 weapons could only further fuel the conflict" between gangs and police, and that such "high-power weapons" could end up in the hands of criminal gangs and vigilantes.

So there you have it. Just as we always knew, the .45 is basically a weapon of mass destruction, while the .40 S&W and 9mm are "less lethal," like a bean bag or pepper spray.

"violence prevention NGO." = International antigun group.
Much like the domestic ones, they know nothing and will say anything.
