I am glad that Colt is going to reintroduce the Python. I imagine they will be scarce and hard to find.
They are still my favorite revolver. The 4 inch was the first gun I ever purchased. It cost $300 back in 1976.
I have not put a whole lot of rounds through it - maybe a couple of thousand. I still have it and it is still working fine.
I took it out last year and let Puma Guy put a few rounds down range.
It is a sweet shooter to be sure. Let's go again and I'll bring my Smith 3½" Model 27.

In my opinion, it hasn't taken a hit - knowing gun people, there will always be those who will value the originals over any new production (eg pre-64 Winchesters, original WW1 1911s, etc).
The video talked about an "improved trigger." The excellent double action trigger was one of the main selling points for the Python. Also it was well know for the royal blue finish. Now that most of the old craftsmen at Colt are retired, it will be interesting to see the 2020 version. It may be urban legend, but I read once that it took about 8 years training and practice on the buffing wheel before they would be able to advance to a job where they had to fit any internal parts.
P.S. I hope AndyC doesn't buy one. He'd probably end up taking off the barrel and putting it on a S&W.

The chain I worked for in the mid 60's to early 70's procured a Colt franchise. We were a discount chain (Globe Shopping City), however the covenants of a Colt franchise prohibited selling for less then MSRP (fair trade), so we had very few sales. After a couple of years we could discount them. They retailed at $135 and our SOP was to take 10% off per week until an item sold. I sold Python's for around 70 bucks. The same for some Colt .45 Commanders and SAA's. Hindsight being a perfect science I kick myself frequently.

If yours are like mine (from the 70's) then you will be ok with the original ones. Those should bring a big premium.

I saved and bought one back in the 70’s. By far my favorite gun I’ve owned. Unfortunately when I was overseas my brother “borrowed “ it and sold it. I think I paid $360.00 back then

Back in the day he was living with my parents. When I went overseas, my wife went with me so we store a lot of our things at my parents place. My brother was messing around with drugs and decided to use my stuff to pay for his habit. When I got back, we had a serious "discussion " about it and he decided that when he healed up, he would go to rehab.
