Preacher Open Carrying?
Look at this picture and see if this Pastor is carrying a handgun or something else.

I think I found an answer to my question
"On Nov. 5, 2017, a gunman attacked the church, a small congregation in a rural area about an hour east of San Antonio; 26 people were killed, including a pregnant woman and Pomeroy's 14-year-old daughter, Annabelle. The gunman fled the scene and was found dead soon after from a self-inflicted gunshot wound".
The Pastor was not there that day.

Pretty sure it’s a semiauto:

OK, you're right. What I took as the holster's cylinder bulge is the depression in the trigger guard. Blown up enough I can also see the depression in the ejection port. I stand corrected. The Annoyed Man wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 9:53 amPretty sure it’s a semiauto:

Good for him. Open carry is a respectful and safe manner needs to become normal again.

Before the COVID, I carried openly at church except in the sanctuary during worship.

Re: Preacher Open Carrying?
I agree he is armed in the picture. Appears to me to be a revolver.
I pastor Pine Grove Baptist Church outta Diboll, Angelina County. That Southerland Springs Church was almost identical to Pine Grove.
I open carry all the time. Full size .45 1911. Springer TRP. At my desk right now, in public here in Angelina County, when I visit in the community, at the church when not in service, I OFTEN stop and pray w/ LEOs when I see them parked or in a store. Not one has ever shown any apprehension at my approach. Even the ones I do not know personally which is not many. Never had a negative comment. I tell anyone that any evident means of self defense is a deterrent to crime. Law enforcement agrees.
I actually preached one time Open Carry at the church. We had an outside service and it was really HOT that day. It was time to start and I said I needed to get my coat. One of our ladies said Preacher it is too hot. Everybody know you have it. Just preach like your are. Several that were standing close by at that time said sure nobody cares. So I did.
I have had 2 Open Carry weddings. Neither of them were members of our church but knew me. First one was pretty soon after OC passed. I got a call and they knew I carried. The father of the Bride. He said they wanted an outside wedding at the house and wanted it to be Open Carry. Would I do the service that way. My response was sure. I did not see or get an official invitation that was mailed out. They did verbal to most to save expenses but I understand it was in print that if you had a CHL/LTC now under the new law that you were expected to show up armed and OC. It was a nice pretty sunny day for an outside wedding. A great time of gun talk at the outside reception afterwards.
I really think the 2nd one was because they had heard of the 1st one.
I have had several that the ones armed would be OC until the service starts and then get formal and put a coat on. After service was over and reception time coats and ties came off. I have a long time ago lost count of those.
Last one like that was my Grand Daughter's wedding. It was on Lake Rayburn last Sept. 28th. Not announced like the 1st two were but there were 3 OC there before the service and after again when coats and ties came off. Only comment at all came from the DJ. Commented on the "3 that have guns on here." I am pretty sure there were 4 more that stayed covered there.

Re: Preacher Open Carrying?
A former pastor of mine told me to open carry my 4” S&W 500 to church. I was tempted but I didn’t want to distract everyone and take the focus from the service. The 500 looks good in the leather OWB holster.
Re: Preacher Open Carrying?
I think so too. I see the cylinder swell on the holster and the tip of the hammer touching his shirt.
Cylinder swell on the holster is the major evidence for me.
