Which Glock to buy?

Re: Which Glock to buy?
Yeppers; I'd agree. I think everyone should own a G17...I do, but have never carried it. Not my fave. But it is by a lot of accounts the most prolific handgun in the world. The old Soviet Makarov in 9mm short may rival total numbers manufactured, but certainly not in current use in North America. That makes it sort of the perfect "if you can only have one" prepper pistol. There are probably at least a million of them in the U.S. alone available for cannibalizing parts.

Recommend you consider the G-26 Baby Glock.
If you hand is larger, then the G-19.
You can't go wrong with either one

I think I'm going with the standard G45. Thank you.SQLGeek wrote: Sun May 10, 2020 2:02 pm Yes, 19X uses special mags. One of the reasons I'd go with the G45 instead of the 19X.

Re: Which Glock to buy?
I have a 17, 19, and 26....all Gen4. The 19 IS easier to conceal than the 17, but not by a ton. I have successfully concealed my 17, but I’m more likely to OC it. The 19 is pretty much my EDC. As a range gun, I much prefer the 17....although the 19 shoots just fine. It’s just that the slightly larger grip size and longer slide of the 17 give a better sight radius, and it’s slightly softer shooting. Just as if I HAD to narrow my ARs down to one, I’d choose my 20” A4; if I had to narrow my Glocks down to just one, I’d probably choose the 17.
That said, if I were going to buy a NEW Glock, I’d give both the 19x and the 45 a really hard look. And you can get 15 round mags that flush fit the single stack 45.

TAM, the 45 isn't a single stack, it's a double stack 17 frame. Are you thinking of the 43X/48?The Annoyed Man wrote: Mon May 11, 2020 9:16 pm

That’s one ugly pistol, but still better lookin’ than any actual Glock. Go for the Beretta.

Re: Which Glock to buy?
Well, just to update this post:
I finally had the funding, so I went and bought a Glock. Purchased it at the LGS. Unfortunately, due to the current mess going on in this country, Glocks are selling so fast that they as they reach the distributors, they are being snapped up almost immediately! The salesman at the LGS looked at allocations for Glock 45s. There were five of them, and none were for the store here, of course. I asked him what the lead time was, he told me "Might be a day, might be a year, it's completely random". So, I decided to look at what else they had in the case. Mostly there were single stack pistols like the G48, and couple of sub-compacts. I already have a Shield 9mm and wasn't in the market for either of those.
However, they did have ONE Glock 17, Gen 5, the latest version with the front slide serrations and beveled frame to match the beveled slide. I bought it because I wasn't going to wait who knows how long for a G45. Anyway, it came in a hard-plastic case, with three magazines, plastic loader, a cheezy cleaning rod and brush, and the ubiquitous gun lock. After trying a couple of the add-on backstraps, I put the medium beavertail (+2mm) on it, which made it fit my hand much better. Ran 185 rounds through it once I got it home, without cleaning first. Zero failures-to-feed, fire, or extract. Used three types of FMJ. Winchester steel case 115 grain, Blazer Brass 115 grain, and S&B 124 grain. I won't speak on accuracy because I wasn't really trying for that, and I haven't shot it enough yet to be feel competent with it. I will say that I'm glad I waited all these years to buy a Glock because I like this Gen 5 much better than any of the older ones I shot in the past.

Re: Which Glock to buy?
I’m just gonna say it......none of them!
I love Glock (own 4 of them)....but Sig is way better.
If you think the Sig costs more, you are right.
You will find out after your new sights and the trigger
modes you’ll need on your Glock, you’d have had
that right out of the box with a Sig. just my 2 cents.
Whatever you get....enjoy it!

I think this is a trick question. You've answered your own question in the OP.
