How many rounds do you shoot?

How many rounds do you shoot when making a weekly trip to the gun range? I find that my experiences really vary depending on what I am practicing. I generally shoot at the Texas City range, so training and practice is basically limited to switching hands! (I am not trying to make this sound like it isn't important) I find that revolvers usually eat up about one hundred rounds and my semis are usually treated to 200. Of course this has been increased to much larger numbers when time was not an issue. I just wondered how many rounds you guys strive to practice with on a regular basis.

I try to do 150 to 200 rounds per week in the 1911 and 100 thru the Kel-Tec 380 .

I carry both vand like to know I have the skill to use both .

I try to shoot as much of the real world as I can. I have a range in my back yard and its set up like a parking lot (I have the wifes old car and a few other things set out for cover and the backstop is big enough that I can shoot at 3yds out to 25 yds as I thing after 25 yds the threat would be over in most cases.

this is what I do and now the wife is getting into it also as she is carrying .

Like most mine depends also on what I am practicing. When the ladies go I don't shoot as much. My Mother & wife both carry. The wife shoots enough to stay in practice & comfortable but does not "love the smell of burning powder" while my Mother wants to shoot until the ammo bag is empty. At our outdoor range there are places to set up something like 300 has at his house. About the same distances too. I set them up & stand behind them & talk to them as if I was the BG that is in front of them. There they have practiced & learned to give orders, holler out to get away from me, I don't know you,...while retreating. Deciding when to draw a weapon. I think the most difficult decissions for ladies on having to showing a weapon is the "I just want to talk, or I just need some help, I need some directions" Go get that inside but do not approach me. They also practice the close shoots & targets out to 15yds. The wife goes out to 25 for a few rounds. Wife runs 50 she is ready to sit & watch & visit w/ who is there. Mom (75 yr.) 150-200 or when her hand gets tired. I am 7 miles form the range so I have run out there w/ one purpose & shot 25. I have gone for the afternoon & run 250 plus when my son is in. When the 2 Grandones (ages 10 & 13) go & they shoot their .22 I am back to 25-30. Go by myself just to shoot & for general practice probably 100-150 through Kimber & Kel-Tec P32 gets 20-25.

I usually shoot about 100 from my .45. But I like to do alot of dry fire at the range too.

When I can borrow one, I shoot more from a 9mm, cause the ammo is cheap.

How much I shoot from my rifle is usually limited to the amount of ammo I have and how much time I have. I like to get in at least 100 rounds.

Well, since I work at a range I easily shoot a couple of hundred rounds a week. Sometimes more.

I shoot the AR a least once a month, probably 100 or so rounds. I shoot the Mossy about once a month too, probably a dozen or so shells, mix of 00 buck and slugs.

I also have an M1 Carbine I don't shoot nearly enough.

Over 50,000 rounds for the wife and I last year. Evenly split between the two of us.

We're (wife and I) are ramping up our quantities...She's on a 100-200 round a week (or one trip to the range)...

Me, I probably get to send about 50 (one box) per range session...

So it really depends on how often we get over there...

Its getting better...And its more fun, now that I have her wanting to go and shoot more these days...

How much? Not enough.

Usually average 20-40 rounds rifle, Winchester 94 in 30-30 Win (ah, love those lever actions!!) or Chinese SKS in 7.62X39 (both iron sights), plus 150 or so rounds pistol, Smith 908 9 mm (currently at factory for repair) or Bulgarian Makarov in 9x18 Mak, plus around 100 .38 Spl. rounds through either Taurus 65 4" revolver or Smith 642 snub. Wife only shoots around 150 rounds a month through her XD-9 service model Springer.

Usually get to the range once every two to three weeks. Range time plus cleaning takes up 3/4 of my Saturday, but I enjoy every single minute of it! The fun of it is my 6 year old son shoots as many rounds as I shoot all day through his little .22 Henry, what a pleasure!

Even though you didn't ask, I'll soon be adding to the list either a Springer or Kimber 1911 in .45 or a Smith 686 revolver in .357 to the list of "frequent handguns at the range", just haven't decided which yet!

Not near enough lately. With the bitrh of the new baby fast approaching, all of my time and disposable income have been going to fixing up the babies room, stocking up on diapers, and saving for an extra day care payment.

When I do make it to the range I usually shoot at least 200 rounds with a good portion of those being .22.

If I'm by myself, 100-200 rounds each of 40 & 45.
If my daughter or wife is with me, maybee 10-15 rounds. Usually reloading mags for them. If both are with me, I don't usually get to send any downrange. Its hard to keep up loading for both of them. But at least they go.

Jlaw,
While both of your future handguns are fabulous......my vote is the 686! It is all around one of the best handguns ever produced in my opinion! Although it is not great for concealed carry.....it can be done and when it is I bet you would feel much better with it in your hand than a mouse gun. I have a tough time choosing a "night stand" gun...but 90% of the time it is my 686! BTW, it just happens to be what my father purchased for me when I graduated high school.....kinda adds that bit of sentimental touch to it.
