Conroe cop gets shot, Glock saves the day.

Post by lawrnk »

I've been in the market for a glock. My brother is a LEO in Conroe. He told me a story of something that happened to a fellow officer that really has me sold on glock.

A BG was high out of his mind and was approached by Conroe PD. The BG and the cop are separated by a couple feet. The BG pulls a 357 revolver and the cop pulls a glock. The BG gets one off and it hits the barrel of the glock on the side. BG fires 3 rounds into the chest of the officer. Officer is wearing a vest and returns fire and pumps 3 rounds into the BG. BG gets one in the heart, runs, and dies. The glock gets hit point blank with a 357 and still performs flawlessly. I think I am sold.

I would expect the curved surface of most barrels to deflect a side hit from a bullet without any damage.

I think he meant that the 357 bullet hit the slide, not the barrel...

I've seen the writeup from when someone used his competition Glock for torture testing. One of the tests was shooting the slide with another Glock(9mm I think)...the tortured Glock performed flawlessly.

The only test he performed that affected the reliability of the firearm was when he dropped it about 200(maybe more) feet out of the window of a small airplane. The pistol itself was fine, but the impact with the ground barely flattened the brass casings of one side of the double stack mag. He fired every other round, reloaded the mag, and perfect function.

What sold ME on a Glock was the physical difference between a 1700 round barrel and a new barrel. The 1700 round barrel of the G17 was not scratched or marked in any way and looked as good as the new barrel of a G26.

That and the short trigger reset...
